Passau
The city where the three rivers meet. The Danube, the Inn, which comes from Switzerland, and the Ilz, which has its source in the woodland near the border with the Czech Republic. Passau is also known as the 'Three Rivers City' and is a princely city, influenced by the Italian architects. The Cathedral of St. Stephen is very impressive and famous for its organ, which is a work of art in itself.
Passau is a mix of old and new, traditional and modern at the same time, take a trip to the ´Neue Mitte´ or the artists' street in Höllgasse. Markets are held twice a week, and during the Christmas months are supplemented with even more markets and street parties.
Experience Bavarian cuisine in one of the many restaurants in town, or try one of the many South German specialities in the small gourmet restaurants and don't forget to try some of the good, frothy beer that Bavarians are also experts in.
