Hallingdal is one of Norway's most beautiful valleys and has many great experiences to offer. Why not make the first stop at Noresund and take a trip on the M/S Kryllingen on the island of Krøderen in the summer? The area around Noresund and Norefjell also offers great skiing opportunities.
In Hallingdal you will find high mountains, wild waterfalls and deep fjords, which are among the most beautiful experiences in Norway. One of the best mountain roads is the Fanitull Road, which starts in Hemsedal, one of Scandinavia's largest alpine areas, and passes through typical Norwegian mountain terrain up to 1300 metres above sea level. Up in the mountains, open plateaus, high fells and clear inlets come into view. With stunning views of Dyrebotten, Hestebotten, Fagerdalen, Lauvdalsbrea and Reineskarvet, you can see the Norwegian mountains at their best. It is highly recommended to leave the car and climb up Lauvdalsbrea, which is a relatively easy 2.5 hour walk. The view from the top is stunning.
From the towns of Gol and Geilo, you can easily reach Hardangervidda National Park. You can cycle along the Rallarvejen, which runs across the valley along the mountain railway from Haugastøl to Flåm. The road is an impressive piece of work and a sight in itself. The road passes through a stunning high mountain area and you can choose lovely bike rides of varying lengths.
