Friedrichshafen

Friedrichshafen is a cosy town on the shores of Lake Constance and the view of the mountains and the big lake is absolutely stunning. A climb to the 22-metre high observation tower at the harbour is recommended. The tower was built in 2000 and from here you have a fantastic view of the town, the castle church and the lake with the Austrian and Swiss Alps in the background. It is also worth taking the time to visit the castle and the castle church, which was originally built as a monastery for Benedictine monks. The castle church is distinguished by its two 55-metre towers, which also serve as the town's landmark.

You can go sailing on Lake Constance or attend one of the concerts held at the harbour. If you want more active hours together, the town has a wide range of sports activities such as tennis, squash, mini golf, horse riding, bike hire and golf. If you're interested in cultural events, visit the Graf-Zeppelin-Haus cultural centre, which hosts everything from ballet, classical concerts and theatre performances to pop and rock concerts. Visit the Zeppelin Museum, where you can learn about the history of the Zeppelin airships. The centrepiece of the exhibition is a reconstruction of a 33-metre LZ 129 Hindenburg, which was designed by Zeppelin GmbH. The museum opened in 1996 and is housed in the former railway station by the harbour.
