Black Forest

Black Forest destination image

In the south of Germany you will find the popular tourist area, the Black Forest. The Black Forest is a mountainous woodland area that impresses with green meadows, forests and hills as far as the eye can see. However, the area is also known for its many mineral springs, so the Black Forest has also been a popular spa area in Germany for many years. The area is ideal for an active holiday or a family holiday both as a summer and winter break.

In the Black Forest, you can take trips to Freiburg im Breisgau, for example, which lies on the edge of the forest. Here you can enjoy beer from the local brewery or take the cable car up the nearby mountain. The city also has an interesting history and one of the country's oldest universities, as well as a large cathedral. The German Forest region is an ideal destination if you like hiking, as there are many well-marked trails in the large nature park.

The Black Forest also grows a lot of wine, especially on the western slopes. It is therefore possible to obtain good German wine here, and the vineyards are a major feature of the area. Also visit the Vogtsbauernhof outdoor museum, which shows life in the area around the 1600s. Another interesting attraction is the German Watch Museum, located in Furtwangen an interesting historical centre about watchmaking. Let your self-drive holiday go to the Black Forest and let Risskov find the hotel for you.
