In general, the city's small pedestrian streets contain a wealth of beautiful buildings and hidden gems. You can easily explore the city on your own and, for example, walk past the city's main church, St. Nikolai, with its characteristic tower, or St. Mary's Church, where you'll find the stalls where butchers and bakers sold their wares as far back as the 1500s. However, it is also recommended to go on one of the many guided city walks, where you will spice up your visit with extra interesting anecdotes.

Flensburg is idyllically situated at Flensburg Fjord and the city's harbour has played a naturally important role in its history. Today, enjoying a walk in the historic harbour is a must on your visit to the city.
