Rax Schneeberg

Rax is a mountain range in the Austrian Alps. Its highest peak is 2,007 metres above sea level and is called Heukuppe. Rax, together with Schneeberg, are popular and traditional hiking areas and are called Wiener Hausberge, "Vienna's local mountains". The two mountains are separated by the Höllental valley.

The Raxseilbahn cable car, which starts in Hirschwang, takes visitors up to the high Rax plateau, which is around 1,500 metres above sea level. The area is particularly popular with hikers from Vienna and southern Austria. The steep side of the plateau offers hikes of varying degrees of difficulty.
