Djurö National Park

During a holiday in, or near, Mariestad, it's a great idea to explore Vänern's many beautiful islands and archipelagos. Torsö is the largest in the Mariestad archipelago - in fact, in the whole of Vänern - but at the very far end of the Mariestad archipelago, just past Brommösund, you'll find the small archipelago of around 35 islands, with Djurö being the largest of them. This whole area was designated Djurö National Park in 1991, and there are plenty of unique natural experiences to be had here. The islands are easy to reach by hired boat or water taxi, and there are many natural harbours around where you can moor up and set off on an adventure. For nature lovers, Djurö National Park is a must during an active holiday near Mariestad.
