Borås

Borås destination image

Borås is the center of the "Sjuhäradsbygden" and is historically known for its textile industry and mail order companies. The city is also sometimes referred to as the textile city or "knallestaden" after the "knallarna", the former itinerant merchants of the area, who are said to be the forerunners of mail order companies. The town has a long history and was founded by Gustav II Adolf in 1621 and there is a statue of him in the main square. There are also several museums to visit and in the city you will also find exciting works of art such as Jim Dine's bronze sculpture Walking to Borås.

When visiting Borås, don't miss the Borås Zoo where there are 600 animals of about 65 different species. In addition to real animals, there is also a Dinopark with life-size dinosaurs.
