Norway destination image

In Norway, there are a ton of holiday options to suit all tastes. You can go on a city break in Oslo or enjoy Norway's stunning nature on an active holiday. A family holiday in a country full of experiences for young and old or enjoy a romantic break in Bergen.

A cultural and historical holiday is a must on your holiday in Norway, which has a strong culture and many traditions. The country has many interesting museums, where you can discover the interesting Sami culture. A visit to the country's stave churches is also a must. Urnes Stave Church on the Sognefjord is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Fishing is best experienced in the cathedral city of Stavanger, while you can relax in beautiful Trondheim or take advantage of Norway's long coastline.

Southern Norway is characterised by its beautiful coastline with many coastal towns peeking out over the desert sea. The stunning scenery also characterises the interior, where you can find Norwegian mountains, lakes and forests. Southern Norway is the perfect combination of nature holidays and relaxation by the coast. Sørlandet, as southern Norway is known, offers activities and attractions for the whole family. Hiking here is a great experience whether you choose the mountain areas of Setesdal, Åmli, Sirdal or Åseral or you enjoy a hike along the coast. If you are an active nature lover, you can also go cycling, canoeing or fishing. The coast towards the Skagerrak invites you to go deep-sea fishing among the many islands and lakes. You can also visit Norway's fifth largest city, Kristiansand, where you can stroll through the old town, take a pleasant boat trip to Lillesand or visit the former naval base on Odderøya. If you're bringing the kids on holiday, a trip to the Kristiansand Zoo is a must. Here you will find a large water park combined with the cosy animal park, a great experience for the whole family. In the area you can also visit the impressive Hardangervidda National Park or visit one of Norway's traditional stave churches, which is an impressive sight.

In eastern Norway, you'll find the country's capital, Oslo. The east also contains half of Norway's population, so here you'll find much of Norway's shopping and cultural offer, with cafés, shopping centres and museums. The Norwegian capital has many interesting museums and sights, so you'll have plenty of time to spend here. In Olso you'll find the world's largest sculpture park, Vigelandsparken. Vigelandsparken has around 200 sculptures and the park was founded back in the 1940s. Entrance to the park is free and it is the most visited attraction in Norway. Also visit the Oslo Opera House, an impressive white marble building that opened in 2008. The Opera House is inspired by an iceberg rising out of the water. You can also see Akershus Castle and fortress which dates back to the Middle Ages.

Of course, you can't say Norway without thinking of ski holidays. Trysil, Hemsedal, Hafjell, Kvitfjel, Norefjell and Geilo are just some of the popular ski resorts you'll find in Norway. The different ski resorts offer slopes for all levels, from beginner and child-friendly slopes to black runs and off-piste for the really experienced.

Nature holidays are by far the biggest attraction in Norway. Majestic lakes, fabulous mountains, deserted beaches and charming coastal towns blend beautifully with the vast forests and green countryside. Active holidays for the whole family are perfect in Norway, which offers everything from skiing, hiking and challenging cycling. Everywhere you go, you'll encounter the beautiful scenery that shines through in the many valleys. Norway offers great experiences for everyone and is a great destination for your self-drive holiday.
