Gudbrandsdalen

Gudbrandsdalen is one of the largest valleys in eastern Norway, with large areas of forest, mountains and fields. In the area you will find seven national parks, ideal for excursions by bike or on foot. Also visit Lillehammer, one of Norway's oldest winter sports resorts, surrounded by excellent ski resorts.

The town of Vinstra is located in the middle of the Gudbrandsdalen valley between Oslo and Trondheim. Peer Gynt was written in Vinstra, and it was here in 1862 that Henrik Ibsen found inspiration for his great work Peer Gynt. Every year in August, the play "Peer Gynt" is performed on the outdoor stage at Glåvatnet.

Jotunheim National Park is located in the northern part of the Gudbrandsdalen valley. The national park is the perfect starting point for those who want an active holiday. Here you will find some of the most beautiful views in the world. You can also try rafting in Sjoa or hike up Northern Europe's highest mountain, Galdhøpiggen. In Gudbrandsdalen you will also find small towns with rich culture and old traditions. Don't miss sights like Lom Stavkirke and Norsk Fjeldmuseum.

Also take the trip to Norway's oldest national park, Rondane National Park, which offers wilderness and high mountain peaks combined with moors and plains. The national park consists of three marked mountain groups, all above 2000 metres above sea level. Down in a deep gorge lies the Rond River, which cuts beautifully between the mountains.
