Risskov offers hotels with wilderness experiences beyond the ordinary. At Låndberget in northern Värmland you can ski in the winter and go on an elk safari in the summer. The lush forests are teeming with wildlife. See Värmland's Big Four like wolves, lynx, wolverine and bears or beavers along the rivers if you're lucky. Both elk and deer hunting as well as fishing opportunities are numerous.
The city of Karlstad is built on the river delta where Sweden's longest river, the Klarälven, flows into Sweden's largest lake, Lake Vänern. The city has many beautiful old bridges and promenades with cosy restaurants, which give the city a unique maritime environment. The city offers many shopping opportunities and culture such as the beautiful Karlstad Cathedral and Karlstad Theatre, home to the Värmland Opera.
