Take a trip to Lemvig and enjoy the West Jutland hospitality while visiting the city located on the western arm of the Limfjord. Learn more about the unique history of Lemvig, great fires and storm surges that left their mark on the town and made it what it is today.
Why not stop by the harbour for lunch and experience the buzz of life, activities, concerts, food festival, music festival and so much more that Lemvig harbour has to offer. However, fishing was not the main occupation in Lemvig, but rather farming, which made the town stand out from other port towns. Today, this is reflected in the fact that the harbour has become a marina that attracts both locals and tourists.
If the kids are along for the ride, and they like speed and fun, then a trip to Lemvig Skatepark is a must. Here they can enjoy skateboarding, scootering, BMX or rollerblading, whether they are beginners or experts. You can have fun here and if you get hungry during the day, there is plenty to satisfy your appetite as the park is centrally located and offers plenty to choose from.
A ride on the mountain railway is also a great experience for the whole family. Take the train from Lemvig Station and down to the harbour area. The special thing about this ride is that although it is very short, there is a drop of over 30 metres. This ride can be experienced during the summer months and at special events.
If nature and silence are your priorities, a hike at Kabbel north of Lemvig is a natural choice. Walk up the 100 m high hillside with lush fields furrowed by wooded ravines. You will walk along the shore of the Limfjord, with its deep grassy and wooded ravines, the open hills with wide views over the Limfjord and Lem Vig.
Or take a walk through Sødalen, where you can get away from the noise and bustle of today and enjoy the silence of nature instead. The uniqueness of this hike lies in the different types of landscapes formed during the ice ages. Here you balance on narrow paths, jump over streams, one moment you are up, the next you are down in the deep valley.
Learn more about the Lemvig region with a visit to Lemvig Museum. See the various exhibitions, which tell about life and art in the region through the ages. Here, adults can explore the painter Niels Bjerre and the poet Thøger Larsen, while children can go on a book hunt, hear stories, play in the garden or the farmhouse, or explore ancient times.
If you are interested in art, a trip via the sculpture trail is an exciting alternative. Here you can see 54 works by the sculptor Torvald Westergaard, who was one of Lemvig's town children. You can also visit the Museum of Religious Art, where Bodil Kaalund's collection is on display alongside changing exhibitions. This has its origins in the great decoration of Lemvig Church.
With a hotel stay close to the Limfjorden you can have a cheap and eventful mini holiday with Risskov. So pack your car and go.
