About the Hotel

At the entrance to the fabled Krokskogen lies one of Norway's most traditional hotels - Sundvolden Hotel. Sundvolden has been mentioned as a place to eat since 1648. For close to a thousand years, kings, nobles and business travelers have travelled here. Today the hotel is run by the married couple.

The hotel is surrounded by beautiful nature, great hikes and is located by one of Norway's largest inland fjords - Tyrifjorden. Kongens Utsikt is recommend for top hikes, a great hike up the old road that the Sherpas have rebuilt in Krokkleiva. Once up, on a good weather day you can see all to e.g. Gaustadtoppen. Mørkgonga is also worth a visit. There is an incredible good view at the top and it is majestic to stand and look, down through the gorge in the mountain. A short drive away is Hadeland Glassverk, where you can learn about the traditional craft and shop for high-quality glass, porcelain and textile souvenirs. And there's the option of a day trip to the capital, Oslo. It's only an hour's drive away.
