Perugia

Perugia seems to stretch endlessly over the hill on which it has stood for more than 2500 years. Perugia was founded by a local people called Umbrians, then developed by the Etruscans and Romans and perfected by the aristocracy and artisan laity in the Middle Ages. Move behind the city walls to the old medieval centre "centro storico". The beating heart of the city is Piazza IV Novembre. Enjoy a stroll along the city's main street, Corso Vanucci, through the narrow alleys and ancient aqueducts.

Montepulciano

The wine town Montepulciano is definitely worth a visit. Built on a narrow volcanic ridge this town is one of Tuscany's highest medieval towns. A visit to one of Tuscany's most famous wine towns should include a sample tasting at the famous Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.

Chianciano Terme

Chianciano Terme is an exquisite spa town located in southern Tuscany. Located 550 metres above sea level, the town offers numerous spas, as the water is said to have a healing effect. The town is surrounded by the most beautiful countryside with countless green areas and it is considered today as one of the best spas in Europe.

Enjoy a walk in the old town, soaking up the Italian atmosphere and taking in the many interesting buildings. Set on a small hilltop, the old town enjoys a charm and atmosphere that can only be found in Italy. Parts of the old city wall can still be seen and you should also stop by the medieval bell tower.

The small town is set in beautiful surroundings and you can venture out on nature trails that are made for every nature lover. There are countless opportunities both if you want to go hiking or you can take your bikes on holiday and really explore the distinctive landscape.

Assisi

On a driving holiday in Italy, you can experience plenty of Italian culture and history at first hand in Assisi, which, along with Vatican City, is the most important religious site in Italy - a status due to Francis of Assisi, the founder of the Franciscan order. Danish author Johannes Jørgensen wrote a book about St Francis. He lived in the city from 1915-1952 in the street now named after him: Via Giovanni Joergensen. Visit the Basilica di San Francesco, built on a natural platform. The interior reveals an architectural masterpiece. The church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also visit the Franciscan Order's two main shrines - the Porziuncola Chapel, where Francis of Assisi met his first companions, and the Transito Chapel, where he died on the floor at the age of 45.
