Mora

The Dalarna region has an incredibly rich history and unique nature. Visit Mora, situated in the nearshore between Lake Orsa and the incredibly beautiful Lake Siljan. The town is known for its production of knives and watches, the beautiful Dala horses and, not least, the world-famous artist Anders Zorn. Visit Zorngården, where Zorn lived, and the museum next door, where you can see some of his works of art.

The Zorn Museum and Zorngården

Don't miss one of Sweden's most outstanding artists, Anders Zorn, during your visit to Dalarna. Many of his works are on display at the Zorn Museum in Mora. Zorn lived from 1860-1920 and became a famous and sought-after portrait painter, but he is probably most famous for his pictures of bathing women and his landscape paintings, which unforgettably depict the nature of Dalarna.

Vasaloppsarenan

The Vasaloppet is the world's oldest cross-country ski race. It was created in memory of Gustav Vasa, who fled from the Danish king in 1521 and travelled between Sälen and Mora to lead the rebellion against the occupying power. At Vasaloppsarenan you can ski, hike, cycle or run. It runs from Sälen to Mora and is 90 km long, with many rest areas along the way. Experience the beautiful landscape and stay the small villages, streams and beautiful forests. In Mora you can also visit the Vasalopp Museum and learn more about its history.

Nusnäs

The famous Dala horse is produced in Nusnäs. The colorful wooden horse used to be made by hand, but today the band saw has taken over much of the work. Despite this, the colors and patterns are still the same, so you can buy a real Dala horse to take home!

Tomteland

Visit Tomteland and discover a magical world filled with goblins, trolls, fantasy and magic! On Gesundaberget is Santa's Land, where you can visit Santa's home. In addition to Santa's village, there are also the fields of elves, the kingdom of the elves, the forest village and the kingdom of magic where the evil wizard lives. In summer you can fish, climb and taste Santa's ice cream.

Siljan

Siljan is Sweden's sixth largest lake, 161 metres above sea level, with a surface area of 290 square kilometres. Siljan was formed when a meteorite struck 365 million years ago and is part of a network of lakes and rivers called the Siljan Ring.

There are numerous hiking and cycling trails, as well as ski slopes in the area. One of the trails, Siljansleden, includes 34 kilometres of hiking trails in varied landscape. Along the trails there are several rest stops for those who want to go for a day trip and walk or cycle as far as possible. Bathing spots are found all over Siljan and Lake Orsa.

Rättvik

Rättvik is a town that most would probably associate with folk costumes, knee socks and Midsummer. Here you can e.g. visit Rättvik Church, parts of which date back to the 13th century. Walk along Lake Siljan and enjoy the impressive and beautiful nature.

Dalhalla

Dalhalla is a very unique outdoor arena; an impressive amphitheatre, which has been blasted in limestone and thus built directly into nature. Various concerts are held here, typically within various pop genres, as well as various theater performances.
