Falster is Denmark's 6th largest island and lies between Lolland and Zealand surrounded by the Baltic Sea, Guldborgsund and Storstrømmen. Falster's largest town is Nykøbing Falster, which is located on the western side of Falster, beautifully situated on Guldborgsund and definitely worth a visit. The town's landmarks are the Abbey Church from around 1500 and the water tower from 1908, which is Denmark's first ferro-concrete building and has a viewing platform 32 metres high. Nykøbing Falster offers an exciting cultural life, discover for example Nykøbing F. Revyen which has more than 100 years of history or Nykøbing F. festuge which is always bursting with life. Don't miss a visit to the Medieval Centre on the outskirts of Nykøbing F. Here you can travel back in time to the small market town of Sundkøbing. The year is 1408 and you can hear the cannons roar, watch jousting tournaments and otherwise experience the bustling life of the market town which offers many exciting experiences, including the chance to try your hand at medieval machinery. Go on a pleasant family outing and visit Guldborgsund Zoo and Botanical Gardens, where you can witness more than 90 different animal species and thousands of plants. Go on safari in the rainforest, pet the animals in the children's zoo, dig for fossils in the Dinosaur Sandpit and let the kids loose in the large nature playground.

Don't forget to take a trip to Gedser, where many interesting experiences await. Visit Denmark's southernmost point, Gedser Odde. Here, the South Stone, a 1 billion year old rock, marks the southernmost point in Denmark. On the way, you can stop by Gedser Lighthouse from 1801. Enjoy the fantastic view of Gedser and the surrounding area from Gedser Water Tower. The Black Geomuseum in Gedser offers a fascinating local geological collection of fossils, fossils, spectacular minerals and amber with fossils. Close to Gedser, it would be a good idea to take a coffee break and visit Gedesby Mill from 1911.

Stubbekøbing is a cosy little harbour town on the north-eastern part of Falster with several unique museums that are definitely worth a visit. At Stubbekøbing Egnsmuseum you will find Europe's largest collection of scales, while Motorcykel- og Radiomuseum has Northern Europe's largest collection of motorcycles. Enjoy the beautiful view of the Faroe Bridges from Stubbekøbing Harbour, located in Grønsund, and hop aboard the vintage ferry Ida for a trip to Bogø.

Fill the trunk and visit the holiday village Marielyst. Here you will find plenty of exciting activities, including Denmark's largest golf park Golf & Fun, which in addition to adventure mini golf also offers folding ball golf, handball golf and frisbee golf. Marielyst Gokart and Paintballcenter is ideal for those who enjoy speed and action. Marielyst beach has also been voted Denmark's best beach.

Other attractions on Falster that you must not forget to visit include the Crocodile Zoo at Eskilstrup. Discover Europe's largest crocodile, Sobek the Nile crocodile, which is over 5 metres long and weighs over 600 kg, as well as Medusa the python, which at 6.3 metres is among Europe's longest snakes. See all 23 living species of crocodiles (one of only two places in the world where this is possible). As the only place in Denmark, you can also see tree leopards in the Crocodile Zoo. Visit Denmark's Tractor Museum at Eskilstrup. The museum has about 200 tractors and engines dating from 1880-1960 of makes such as Bukh, Bolinder-Munktell, International, Ferguson and Volvo.
