Tauerngold - The Gold Museum

For hundreds of years, gold mining has been practised on the southern side of the Hohe Tauern and this unique exhibition is glittering proof that truly fabulous gold treasures have indeed been found in the area.

The exhibition 'Tauerngold' presents gold treasures from a bygone era, see the beautiful mountain gold, the Roman and Celtic gold coins and gold jewellery found in the many abandoned tunnels. See the many tools used to mine the gold and experience what it was like to mine gold and live as a miner.
