From Rådhuspladsen down to Kongens Nytorv runs the stretch that has been nicknamed Strøget. To be precise, Strøget covers Nygade, Vimmelskaftet, Østergade and Frederiksberggade as well as the three squares: Nytorv, Gammeltorv and Amagertorv. Strøget is best known for its many speciality shops and clothing stores, selling both discount goods and major international brands such as Prada and Hermès. There are countless cafés and bars, not to mention a huge selection of restaurants offering everything from sushi to Parisian steaks. But Strøget is also much more than just restaurants and shops. The many peddlers and street musicians fill the picture, and there are also many historic buildings along the 'Smoke Route'.
