Messner Mountain Museum

In the heart of the Dolomites, between Pieve di Cadore and Cortina d'Ampezzo, the 2,181-metre Monte Rite rises to the sky. From the top you have a 360° panoramic view of the most beautiful peaks of the Dolomites: Monte Schiara, Monte Agnèr, Monte Civetta, Marmolata, Monte Pelmo, Tofana di Rozes, Sorapis, Antelao and Marmarole. It is therefore not surprising that the Messner Mountain Museum is dedicated to rocks and stones. The museum in the old fortress is dedicated to the history of the Dolomites' evolution, told from the point of view of scientists and climbers, as the story of their discoveries and first ascents.
