Kamnik

Kamnik is one of Slovenia's oldest towns, and was already mentioned in the 11th century. It officially became a town in 1229 and was an important place for trade between the capital Ljubljana and Celje. In Kamnik there are ruins of two old castles and a lot of historical architecture. The old town with its beautiful buildings is a must-see, as are the many medieval houses that line the Šutna pedestrian street and Glavni Trg square. On Šutna there is also a church from 1734 which was built after the old church from 1207 burned down.
