Gjermundbu
Gjermundbu comes from the name Geirmarabú, which was the name of a former manor located in Ringerrike and which dates back to the 16th century. But it was also here in Gjermundbufu that a farmer suddenly discovered an old burial mound in 1943. The grave in Gjermundbuu would turn out to be the final resting place of an influential and powerful chieftain, as it is one of the most valuable finds from the Norwegian Viking Age. Among the weapons found were axes, swords and spears, and the site bears witness to arguably one of the most important moments in Norwegian history, from a global historical and cultural context.
