Borkumer Kleinbahn

The Borkumer Kleinbahn has been connecting the harbour to the centre of Borkum since 1888, making it Germany’s oldest island railway still in operation. This narrow-gauge train is more than just transport—it’s part of the island experience. Running between the ferry terminal at Borkum Reede and the central station in town, the line covers around 7.5 km and passes through dunes, meadows and open landscapes. With its vintage carriages and relaxed pace, the journey offers charming views of dunes, meadows and the sea breeze.
