City2 also offers various shows and during the Christmas season you can play Bambi on ice or shine as an ice-skating princess on the centre's ice rink.

Right next to City2 you'll find Copenhagen Designer Outlet, a 17,000 m2 area packed with outlet stores where you can score a bargain and buy designer products at fantastic sale prices. Here you'll find clothes, beauty products and home furnishings, so there's plenty of opportunity for self-indulgence or to buy a gift for someone you love.

Grennessminde

Get away from the rush and visit the little gem Grennessminde, an organic nursery located just outside Høje Tåstrup. Here, ecology and sensory experiences are paramount. Explore the greenhouses where you can see how production takes place - from seeds to beautiful plants. Follow the experience trails and enjoy pick-your-own in the fields. Meet the animals of Grennessminde, including horses, donkeys, pets, goats, rabbits and chickens, for the enjoyment of young and old alike. Arken Museum of Modern Art

Book a cheap mini break and get plenty of culture in the bargain with a visit to the ARKEN Art Museum, located at Køge Bugt Strandpark, south of Copenhagen. ARKEN has one of Scandinavia's finest collections of contemporary art, but the architecture of the museum itself has also won international acclaim since it opened in 1996. The collection contains over 400 works by Nordic and international contemporary artists, covering the period 1990 up to the present day. ARKEN also houses one of Europe's most sought-after collections of Damian Hirst, alongside works by Asger Jorn and the abstract Anselm Reyle, as well as Chinese artist Ai Weiwei. Roskilde

Roskilde is a city filled with activities, history, shopping and much more for the whole family. Roskilde Cathedral is a fantastic attraction in the city. The city is also known for its music festival: Roskilde festival, which takes place in June/July at the animal show square.

Ballerup

Go on a car holiday in Denmark with Riskkov Bilferie on Zealand. Visit Ballerup which is located about 16 km. outside the centre of Copenhagen. Here you can learn more about the history of Ballerup, rural life through the ages and take a closer look at the paintings of Grand Duchess Olga. There is also an exhibition of farmhouses as they looked in the 1800s and 1900s, while you can visit the old grocery shop and the blacksmith's shop.

Ballerup's swimming pool Ballerup East Kilbride The swimming pool dates back to 1971 and is named after a twin town. The bath was once an open-air bath, but today it has large indoor facilities. The permanent superstructure was added in 1993. In addition to the large pool, the baths offer a warm water pool, a lovely spa and water massage jets. Here you will find fun for the whole family and there is also the possibility of massage and reflexology. Carlsberg Glyptotek

The Glyptotek in the centre of Copenhagen exhibits an impressive collection of antique art and works from the 19th and 20th centuries in magnificent surroundings. Copenhagen

Tivoli

Copenhagen Tivoli is an amusement park located in the centre of Copenhagen close to Copenhagen Central Station and Strøget. The park is the second oldest of its kind in the world, only Dyrehavsbakken is older. Tivoli was founded by Georg Carstensen in 1843. Try the park's many rides and enjoy an adventurous day with the family, or take a walk in the park and see the beautiful set-up. Tivoli is known for its beautiful Christmas exhibition, which can be enjoyed in December.

Christiansborg

Christiansborg Palace, located on the small island of Slotsholmen, is divided into two. One part of the palace is used by The Queen for gala dinners, and is open to visitors on a daily basis. The other part of the palace houses the Folketing, the Supreme Court and the Prime Minister's Office. In the heart of the palace, the Knights' Hall, hangs The Queen's famous and colourful tapestries with detailed descriptions of Denmark's history over 1000 years. The tapestries were created by the artist Bjørn Nørgaard.

The Marble Church

The Blue Planet

Den Blå Planet, Denmark's Aquarium, is Northern Europe's largest aquarium and offers a unique experience for children and adults. With Den Blå Planet, Denmark once again has a world-class national aquarium and a new architectural landmark. The Blue Planet has water on all sides and is designed to give visitors the feeling of being below sea level. The new building consists of five "arms" that extend out from the center. This allows visitors to choose their own route around the aquarium to see the exotic creatures underwater. You can get up close and personal with a total of 20,000 fish and marine animals in 53 aquariums with a total of seven million liters of water.

Copenhagen is one of those cities where you never know what time of year it is: In spring, love is in the air and people from all walks of life slowly spread out in the city's gardens and parks. In summer, there's singing and smiling in the streets, big ice cream cones, beach life on Amager and a party atmosphere in Nyhavn. And in autumn, the smell of wet asphalt and the city's greenery are replaced by beautiful shades of red, brown and orange. And it's safe to say that Christmas is certainly no exception. As Christmas approaches, Copenhagen transforms into a magical cityscape of twinkling lights, grand decorations, garlands and hearts. Tivoli puts on the long lights, the D'angleterre building gets dressed up for Christmas and Kronprinsensgade is adorned with its beautiful ceiling of fairy lights. The unmistakable smell of Christmas sweets and the sound of choral singing and festive music waft through the air. Christmas in Copenhagen officially kicks off on the first Sunday of Advent when, after the big Christmas parade has made its way through the city, Santa Claus lights the big Christmas tree on Rådhuspladsen. Most of the city's Christmas markets, however, get a head start on the festivities and usually open around mid-November.

One of the city's most popular Christmas markets is of course Tivoli's classic Christmas market. In addition to the stunning lightscapes in the garden, you will find more than 50 different stalls with everything between heaven and earth. However, it should be mentioned that it costs 200 DKK to visit the Tivoli exhibition and market.

The large and traditional Christmas market on Højbro Square, also known as "Deutsch's Julemarked", is free to experience. The market is set up by Michael Deutsch, in collaboration with the City of Copenhagen, and more than 280,000 Christmas lights provide the backdrop for the many stalls.

In Nyhavn, too, Christmas is on the agenda, complete with a fantastic seaside Christmas atmosphere with lights, open fires, mulled wine and apple slices and everything else that goes with it. You might even be lucky enough to see Carlsberg's old-fashioned horse-drawn carriage trundling past.

If the streets get a little too crowded and alarmed, you can regain your calm and cool with a trip up the Round Tower. Here you can get a fantastic view of the city's glittering lights and enjoy the Christmas spirit from a distance.

Another of the city's cosy Christmas markets is the charming and relatively new H.C. Andersen Christmas Market, located on Strøget in the heart of Copenhagen. Here you can meet Santa Claus, wild Vikings and H.C. himself. Andersen, warm your hands on a cup of nice hot mulled wine and eat traditional German charcoal-grilled sausages.
