Hemsedal Ski Centre

Hemsedal Ski Centre is located in the heart of Hemsedal and has 20 ski lifts and 48 slopes with varying degrees of difficulty. Therefore, there are many possibilities on the skiing holiday, for both the experienced skiers, the advanced and the beginners. Hemsedal Skicenter has dedicated a larger area for the smaller ones, so they also have the opportunity to test their balance on the skis.

The alpine ski center covers 70,000 square meters and has seven mountains, a 'roll band slalom track, an activity park with toboggan and carousels, kiosk, a park with rails and waves, 'skicross track, 'big-airbag, and then there are also benches and tables with space to barbecue. Ski hire is available in town.

Hemsedal

Hemsedal aims to become Norway's busiest town and this is reflected in the amount of activities in the town. Here you can really talk about an active holiday. On winter holidays, ski enthusiasts can let loose at the town's large ski resort, and on summer holidays there are a wealth of outdoor activities.

Hemsedal offers a total of 41 hiking routes spread over 210 km. The hiking routes are well signposted and marked and sorted by colour according to difficulty. There are trails for both beginners and those who are familiar with the mountains. The highest peak in Hemsedal is Høgeloft at 1920 metres.

The city also has 21 cycling routes stretching over 225 km. In addition, there is a long downhill hill with varying degrees of difficulty from blue to red in Hemsedal Bikepark and a fun track where you can test your cycling skills at the bottom of Hemsedal.

Hemsedal has 18 lakes and four rivers for fishing, both with and without flies. Fishing season is 25/05-15/09 . The river Hemsila is known as one of the best fly fishing rivers and offers challenging trout fishing.

Hemsedal Golf Club

Hemsedal Golf Klub has a unique golf course in a beautiful mountain landscape, which offers golfers nine challenging holes and a great environment. The course was completed in 1996 and has since provided the framework for a lot of great golf. The course is beautifully located in Grøndalen in Hemsedal and is an ideal golfing getaway if you are on a summer holiday in the area.

Gordarike Viking and Family Park

Gordarike Viking and Family Park is an exciting attraction for the whole family. Here you can visit the Gol Stave Church, which has an exhibition on stave church architecture and the gods of the Vikings. You can also see King Hadding's burial mound, Hahaugtroll's cave or take a walk up to the Ygdrasil lookout tower, which offers a great view of the valley.

Children will certainly have many hours to spend in the indoor playground (75 sqm), practicing shooting with bow and arrow or fighting with swords. There is also an outdoor water park with two slides, Viking ships and sunbathing area. It is also possible to hire canoes and electric bikes.

Gol

Gol is located in a beautiful natural area surrounded by forested mountains, with beautiful views of Jotunheimen and Hemsedal. You will find many marked trails in the area, which are suitable for both hiking and cycling.

Bergensbanen (Oslo - Gol - Bergen)

Discover a cultural history museum with 133 antiquarian buildings and 40 000 objects spread over six museums in the beautiful nature of Hallingdal. These include Ål village museum, Dagali museum, Gol village museum, Hemsedal village museum and Hol village museum. You can see the Emigrant House, a dwelling house built in North Dakota, USA, in 1882 by the emigrant Ole Svendsen Skrattegard, several buildings with rose-painted interiors, Lie School from 1871, an old railway station, a farm and a mill, among many other things.
