Blomsholm's Pasture

Strömstad

In the spa town of Strömstad, the famous mud of the Kebal Gulf was diluted 230 years ago and its amazing healing power has since become the town's hallmark. Today, this beautiful town is well worth a visit.

If you're looking for some cosy shopping, the Gallerian Strömstad shopping centre is located in the heart of Strömstad town centre.

The city has several beautiful churches that should definitely be visited. Strömstad Church was built between 1817 and 1820. Another church to see is Skee Church, which is one of Bohuslän's oldest churches, built in granite, back in the 12th century.

Sparta Amfi

Norway's first ice rink was built in Sarpsborg, and local hockey fans unequivocally root for the 'Sparta Warriors', the big team in this hockey town. Be sure to check the calendars and see if ice hockey is being played, it's an absolute blast and something Norway lives and breathes.

Borgarsyssel museum

Experience Norway on a cheap weekend break for the whole family. Not far from Oslo, Borgarsyssel museum is the place where visitors can learn about the history of Eastfold, from the Middle Ages up to the building of the workhouses in Norregård and Hafslund and on to the present day.

Also stop by St Nicholas' Church, which dates back to around 1115 and is also part of an open-air museum with many old buildings and interesting exhibitions. Also visit the Hafslund main farm in Sarpsborg, now a protected cultural monument and one of the best preserved manor houses in Norway. Many royals have visited the farm over the years, and the main building dates from 1762 and was built just after the previous Baroque building burned down in 1758. Hafslund Main Farm is one of the few manor houses in Norway that is open to the public. During the summer visitors can join guided tours and when the main house is closed there is always the very beautiful and well maintained park to explore. Kosterhavet Nature Centre

Naturum Kosterhavet is an information centre with an exhibition, interactive stations, film screenings and a shop, located at Ekenäs jetty on the island of Sydkoster. Here you can learn about the Kosterhavet National Park and its wildlife, above and below the surface. There is also a petting zoo where you can see and feel some of the animals that live in the Kosterhavet.

Admission to the Naturum is free.

South Costa and Kosterhavet National Park

On South Koster - one of the islands in the Koster archipelago off the coast of Strömstad - lies Kosterhavet National Park. It's Sweden's first marine national park and there's plenty to explore underwater. See, for example, football sponges, arm-foots, pipefish and cold-water corals. There are local ferry departures from Strömstad that will take you out to the Koster archipelago.
