It was a really nice hotel, but they could have informed us that we needed to pay 32 euros in cash upon arrival, as we were expecting them to accept Visa cards, but it had to be cash.

Nice hotel, but the food was a bit boring. The hotel seemed a bit like it was not family-owned.

Super cozy. Nice rooms - not flashy. The staff was top-notch.

It would be nice if you could check in before 4 PM.
They only change towels every other day.

We started with 6 days at the First Mountain Hotel Ötztal. Lovely hotel, with good food and drink, but a big task to get to it. 17 hairpin turns, so it was uphill. Some confusion when we had to check in, but after about 25 minutes, it was sorted out.

Aqua Dome Längenfeld

The spa features 12 pools, including futuristic bowl-shaped thermal basins with light and sound effects, alongside 14 themed saunas like herbal, earth, and canyon saunas. Families will love the separate Alpen-Arche-Noah water world, complete with slides, a fun pirate-ship zone, and kid-friendly pools.
Ötztaler Ache
Those of you who like water can take a trip on the Ötztaler Ache, where it is possible to river raft or kayak on the 35 km long river. If you look up towards the mountain peaks, you can often see the wahogs jumping off the cliff sides and paragliding down to the valley in their parachutes, every summer the sky is filled with parachutes in the colours of the rainbow and it is impressive to see the air between the mountains, being filled by these wahogs.
Wildspitze
Wildspitze is the highest mountain in the Ötztal Alps mountain range in Austria. It is also the second highest mountain in Austria after Großglockner.
Stamserhaus Museum
Stamserhaus dates back more than 700 years and is believed to be the oldest farm in Tyrol. Over the years parts of the building have been destroyed, probably by fire, and later rebuilt. The house was mainly used as a tax office, where the peasants of the area had to pay taxes to the princes of Stams. Today the house is a museum, where you can see an exhibition of Christmas crabs. The world's oldest Christmas crib organisation, founded in 1860, is based in the town of Wenns, where the Stamserhaus is located. The exhibition includes over 40 different handmade Christmas cribs. The museum is usually open on Wednesdays and Sundays, but it is recommended that you check the opening times before your visit.
Kaunergrat Nature Park
Visit Kaunergrat Nature Park and discover the unique fauna and flora of the high alpine landscape. In the park you may be lucky to see chipmunks, fallow deer, eagles and mountain goats, among others, and there are also 1100 different species of butterflies and 1200 ibexes, making it the largest herd in Austria. There are 84 mountain peaks in the nature park, which are over 3000 m high. The highest mountain in the nature park is the Watzespitze (3,532m). In the Kaunergrat Nature Park Centre you can get information about the area's animal and plant life and visit the exhibition 3,000 M VERTICAL, which takes you on an interactive tour through the nature park and shows what the place looked like in the Bronze Age and Roman times.
Innsbruck
The town is known as the "capital of the Alps" as it is the perfect destination for skiing and snowboarding in winter, and mountaineering and hiking in summer. The town itself offers countless sporting activities all year round, and has a beautiful town centre with historic buildings and an extremely friendly atmosphere. The town is surrounded by impressive mountains.
The old town dates back to the Middle Ages and still consists of a number of charming medieval houses. Facing the central square is the Golden Roof, built as the residence of the Tyrolean kings and queens in the 15th century. From here they could watch the tournaments in the town square without leaving their palaces. The Golden Roof itself is a balcony covered with almost 3,000 copper roof tiles.
The Imperial Palace is built in the late Gothic style and dates back to 1460. The palace consists of four wings around a gigantic hall in the middle (Riesensaal), which is beautifully painted in white and gold and is well worth a visit on a mini break or ski holiday to Austria!
Ambras-Slot
Ambras Castle is set in sprawling English gardens high above Innsbruck. The building houses Europe's oldest museum, including weapons and armor, art and books. It also houses the Habsburg Portrait Gallery with works by Titian, Van Dyck and Velásquez.
Götzens
The small Tyrolean village of Götzens is an extremely popular destination - not least because of its excellent location and the wide range of things it has to offer. Here you will find a wide range of wellness facilities, child-friendly activities and sports facilities, as well as open-air concerts. The village is an ideal destination for active holidays and family holidays in Tyrol. It offers enough fun for young and old even for a longer summer holiday.
