Hovdala Castle

Hovdala Castle is a beautifully preserved historic estate located just south of Hässleholm in southern Sweden. With origins dating back to the Middle Ages, the castle played an important defensive role during the wars between Denmark and Sweden in the 17th century. Today, Hovdala Castle is best known for its tranquil atmosphere, elegant architecture, and scenic surroundings by Lake Finjasjön. Visitors can explore the castle’s exhibitions, gardens, and walking trails that wind through the surrounding nature reserve. The estate also hosts cultural events, historical reenactments, and seasonal markets, making it a place where history and nature meet in harmony.

Tyringe

Tyringe originally grew up around a farmstead, but was first mentioned in writing as early as 1354, when there were only 4 farms. Today Tyringe has about 4,600 inhabitants. The village is surrounded by beautiful Scanian beech forest, which provides opportunities for walks and bike rides. Exercise trails of 2.5 - 10 km, which run through the beech forest, start near the hotel. Golfers often experience Skåne as a paradise thanks to the many courses and the long season. The nearest course, Skyrup Golf Club, is only 8 km from the hotel.

Tyringe Sports Centre is 800 metres from the hotel. Here you will find a swimming pool with a relaxation area, ice rink, bowling alley, sports hall, gym, wrestling and spinning. There is also a cafeteria. If you wish to book a time for any sporting activity, please contact the hotel. A short walk (just under 2 km) from the hotel is the FCT discount shopping centre, which covers an area of 9,000 square metres. It sells lots of cheap goods of all categories, so hurry up and bargain!

In the summer, "Backpackers" are organised on certain Saturdays. The small fee to participate goes in full to the Lions. Tyringe has a small but beautiful church, Finja church, built in Romanesque style in the 12th century. Parts of the interior are believed to have been made by the same stonemasons as in Lund Cathedral. Tyringe Museum is housed in "Bergman's cellar". Here you can see a permanent machine exhibition and a permanent photo exhibition, where you can see the development of Tyringe.

Within a radius of 40 km there are no less than 5 golf courses: Skyrup Golfklubb 8 km, Wittsjö Golfklubb 33km, Östra Göinge Golfklubb 40 km, Perstorps GK 18km and Ljungbyheds GK 30 km.

Wanås Slott

Wanås Castle dates back to the Snapphani era, but is today best known for its fantastic modern art exhibitions. In a large park behind the castle, modern "outdoor art" is displayed in a large format. The castle is very beautiful, as is the park, even if you are not an art lover.

Kristianstad

Kristianstad still has its founder Christian IV's monogram, a 4 in a crowned C, in its coat of arms and uses it extensively on lamp posts and other municipal installations. Canoeing on Lake Loka

Åhus

Åhus is a well-preserved medieval town where you can find the remains of churches, palaces, city walls and a monastery ruin. With its fine harbour promenade and everything from charming cafés to reputable restaurants, it makes for a great day out. Here you can also visit the factory that makes the famous Absolut Vodka and take a guided tour of their visitor centre.

In the Iron Age and Viking Age, Åhus was an important trading town. During the 20th century it became known for its eel fishing. At the smokehouse you can buy smoked eel and if you want to participate in a real eel guild, there is no better place than Åhus Gästis in September. But book your table well in advance.

Don't miss a visit to Åhus' beautiful sandy beach. Bring towels and swimwear and spend the day on the fine white sand. The shallow water and ice cream sellers make it very child-friendly. Outside the bathing season, you can take the most beautiful walks along the water.

Åhus winery offers guided tours through the vineyard, which ends with a wine tasting from their own grapes.

Wittsjö Golfklub

Wittsjö Golf Club offers golf courses suitable for both beginners and advanced players, and there is even a golf school for beginners. The forest course is located in a beautiful natural area surrounded by deciduous forest with exciting, varied courses. The club has a 9- and 18-hole course.

Småland Moose Safari

On an elk safari in Småland, you can experience everything from elk to American bison and goats up close. You can either drive around on your own or take a special moose safari train that takes you around the landscape within the moose enclosure. The farm dates back to the 18th century, with beautiful scenery and an adventurous moose safari for the little ones. In the farm's own café, Café Smålandet, you can taste sausages made from moose meat or enjoy waffles and the children can play with the farm's goats.
