Television Tower

Visit Berlin's architectural landmark, the Television Tower, which is 368 metres high and can be seen from all over the city. The TV tower was built in the 1950s on the city's most famous square, Alexanderplatz. The enthusiasm of the time for space travel and rockets is evident in the architecture and some of the inspiration for the tower came from the Soviet Sputnik satellite. To this day, the TV Tower is still used as a TV tower and around 60 TV and radio channels are broadcast from the tower.

Berlin Wall

The Berlin Wall was about 43 km long and 3.6 metres high and divided West and East Germany from 1961 until 1989, when Berlin was reunited.
