Visit the charming town of Uelzen, best known for its "Hundertwasser-Bahnhof". The fascinating and colourful railway station is one of the most beautiful in the world and it is possible to have an exciting guided tour for a small fee.

See also the city's Gothic church of St. Mary, which boasts a steeple as tall as 86 metres and an apostle's chapel dating back to 1350. Suhlendorf

Suhlendorf is located in an idyllic, quiet and scenic area in the eastern Lüneburger Heide near the beautiful Elbhöhen-Wendland Nature Park. The open and wooded landscape invites you to enjoy wonderful cycling and hiking tours.

Suhlendorf offers a very interesting craft museum. In ten different buildings you can take a closer look and learn a lot about the different crafts. You can visit the shoemaker, the radio technician, the blacksmith, the hairdresser, the watchmaker, the painter, the baker and the miller. The museum started life as a mill museum and has since evolved into a museum of many different crafts.

Near the museum you will find the old mill "Auguste", which is more than 200 years old. This is where grain used to be ground into flour and you should take a closer look at this fine mill. The mill is one of the oldest types of windmills in Europe.

The small, cosy town has various festivities throughout the year. These include the annual Schlachtefest, International Museum Day, German Mill Day, summer concerts, the Mill Festival and Craftsmen's Day. There is something for all the family and the youngest can also enjoy the town's fine playground near the crafts museum.

Lüneburg

Bleckede

Bleckede, just southeast of Hamburg, is also a great place for a self-drive holiday. Take a cheap mini break to Bleckede and see and experience the town's Elbschloss. The current castle sits on the remains of a former castle dating back to 1270, of which the tall tower still stands. There is a viewing platform at the top of the tower from which you can enjoy a lovely view. In the castle itself you will find a fine exhibition telling about the exciting river landscape of the Elbe. In Bleckede it is also worth taking a closer look at the old baroque church of St. Jacobi and the green areas, where you can find interesting stone formations in the Findlingsgarten Breetze. Lüneburg is famous for its old buildings and churches and at no other time of year does the city look more beautiful than December with its famous Christmas market. Barefoot Park Egestorf

That old house

Dat ole Huus is one of the oldest farms in the Lüneburger Heide nature reserve, and gives a unique impression of life on the Heidehof around the 1850s. People and animals lived here under one roof and cooking took place over an open fire. Also visit the sheepfold, which is no longer in use but is instead used as an exhibition space for changing exhibitions on the culture and landscape of the Lüneburger Heide all year round.

Visit Snow Dome

One of the major attractions in Bispingen is the 23,000 square metre 'Snow Dome', which boasts a 300 metre long ski slope. A great place to learn to ski, there is snow for both beginners and experts. There is also a 300-metre toboggan run, so everyone is guaranteed a lot of fun and speed in the snow.
