Vrigstad

Småland Vrigstad is a village with almost 2,000 inhabitants, located in Sävsjö municipality about 5.5 km south of Jönköping and 6.5 km north of Växjö.

Vrigstad is surrounded by beautiful nature with several lakes and lovely bathing areas. Lake Slättjön and Lundholmsjön are great for a swim, so remember to bring your swimming gear. Where there is water there are usually fish, and there are many residents in the lakes around Vrigstad. Perch, bream, pike, onion, lure and flounder have all been caught in the lakes around Vrigstad.

In the old days, Vrigstad was a trading centre together with Vetlanda and Värnamo. Today the village is an important meeting place for antique dealers.

Then Vrigstad is also known for its good cheesecake, which is made in the Ostkaks bakery. There are also markets in May and August with food and a small Tivoli, otherwise stop by Nydala monastery garden where herbs and hop plants are grown as they were in the Middle Ages.
