Norrköping is located at the far end of Bråviken, a 50 km long bay of the Baltic Sea, and on both sides of the river Motala Ström, which flows from Lake Vättern to the Baltic Sea and through Norrköping. The city has long been an industrial and commercial city. The city center was originally the blocks around what is now Gamla Torget. Today, the square is surrounded by houses from the 18th and 19th centuries, such as the Tesdorpfska, Eschelsonska and Waseska houses, and in the square there is a statue of Louis De Geer, known as the father of Swedish industry. When visiting Norrköping, don't miss Kolmården Zoo, which is located 18km northeast of the city and a visit there is usually appreciated by the whole family.
