Halmstad is a port city located at the mouth of the Nissan River in Laholm Bay on the west coast. Halmstad is located on both sides of the Nissan River and the city center has retained much of its early 20th century character, but the oldest buildings are low brick and half-timbered houses from the 17th century. You can visit Galgberget, a green oasis with beautiful beech and mixed forests and a rich history, just a stone's throw from the city center. In Halmstad you will also find attractions such as the Halland Art Museum, which has an art collection of around 2,000 works, many of which are made by artists with a connection to Halland. The city is also known for being the home of Per Gessle and his bands Gyllene Tider and Roxette.
