Svaneke

Book a hotel in Svaneke through Risskov and get ready for a great holiday. Svaneke, which originally meant Swan Street, was voted Denmark's most beautiful market town in 2013. Throughout most of the town you'll see old, yellow wooden houses with red roofs along the narrow, idyllic lanes, and above the town's red roofs you can see many of the town's beautiful landmarks.
Enjoy the sight of the city's charming marina, from where you can see the old church built on an 18-metre-high rock in a beautiful pink hue, which looks even more breathtaking against the backdrop of the Baltic Sea. Three kilometres outside the town you can see the 12th-century Church of St Ibs, a beautiful church built in the round-arch style and decorated with an altarpiece by Denmark's most famous Golden Age artist, Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg.
Above the roofs of the old buildings, you can also see the city's water tower, designed by Jørgen Utzon, the architect behind the Sydney Opera House, with inspiration from the symbolism of the sea and modernist design. And the town's 18-metre lighthouse, built in 1919, warned sailors until the turn of the millennium that they had now come too close to Bornholm's sharp cliffs. Today the lighthouse is in private hands, but the 18-metre stone building can still be seen from most parts of the town.
In Svaneke town there is a busy city centre, especially during the summer months. Taste Svaneke at their Denmark-famous herring smokehouse "Røgeriet i Svaneke" and satisfy your sweet tooth at the town's candy factory or chocolate factory. You can also visit one of Denmark's first and best microbreweries, Svaneke Bryghus, which has both a restaurant and a varied selection of organic speciality beers.
In the square, on market days, you can enjoy fun activities such as haymaking, hand-reading and small concerts, surrounded by stalls selling crafts, ceramics and local delicacies.
Close to Svaneke you will also find the island's amusement park, Joboland. The park is open from May to September and offers a water park, a mini zoo with monkeys and farm animals, and activities such as go-karts, a play area and carousels.
Book a hotel stay today through Risskov and look forward to a holiday filled with delights for the eyes and taste buds and plenty of child-friendly attractions right near your hotel.
