Czech Republic

The Czech Republic is a country full of experiences. Go on a city break in the capital Prague, discover history on a long weekend in Plzen or go on a spa weekend in one of the country's many spa towns. The Czech Republic is world famous for its beer and a good pilsner can be enjoyed anywhere. Take a family holiday in the diverse Moravia region or enjoy an active holiday in one of the country's countless beautiful nature reserves.

The Czech capital, Prague, situated on the Vltava River, is known as Europe's No 1 cultural city with history, culture, exciting cuisine and great shopping. The city's historic centre, covering over 8,6 sqm, has been UNESCO-listed since 1992 and offers many exciting sights. Discover the Old Town, Stare Mesto, with the statue of Skr. John of Nepomuk and the Old Town Square, Staromestske Namesti. You can also take a walk past the "mini-Eiffel Tower" on Petrin Hill and see the huge Borg in the middle of the city, the largest castle complex in Europe. Of course, don't miss a visit to the Charles Bridge, the most famous sight in the city. If you have children with you, a visit to Prague Zoo is a must. Prague Zoo is located in a scenic area, north of the city centre and the beautiful zoo was voted the 4th best zoo in the world in 2015.

Visit the historic region of Mæhren in the south-eastern half of the Czech Republic. Named after the Morava River, the region offers stunning nature experiences, such as the protected nature area of Thaja or Palava. You can also visit spas and climatic health resorts in the region, such as Jeseník, Luhacovice and Teplice nad Becvou, which offer a variety of health and wellness programmes. Pernštejn Castle is one of the most visited castles in Moravia and its impressive building has been the backdrop for several films. It was built 800 years ago and is one of Europe's best-preserved Gothic Renaissance castles. If you want to explore the beautiful countryside, visit the Žďárské Vrchy protected nature area in the Moravian Mountains. Here you can enjoy the silence, go on beautiful hikes or swim in the Milovský Lake. In the city of Brno you can see the beautiful cathedral of St. Peter and Paul. The cathedral was built back in the 1200s and stands as one of the Czech Republic's national cultural monuments.

You can also go on a driving holiday to the western half of the Czech Republic, to the region of Bohemia. Here you can enjoy an active holiday with hiking and cycling in the beautiful countryside, discover the fascinating cultural history or pamper yourself in one of the many spa towns. Visit the spa town of Karlovy Vary, which with its more than 60 hot springs is one of the largest and most famous spa towns in the Czech Republic. You can also get out into the fresh air and visit the Wolf Mine, originally an old mine, where the old caverns have now collapsed to form impressive canyons. If you want to go skiing, head to Keilberg, located in the Erzgebirge mountain range on the border between Germany and the Czech Republic. Keilberg is the largest ski resort in the area and thanks to its good selection of slopes, it is a ski resort for both beginners and experts.

Whatever type of driving holiday you're looking for, whether it's a summer holiday, a ski holiday, a city break or an extended weekend with a wellness break, you'll find what you're looking for in the Czech Republic, where the choice is vast and the beautiful country is worth a visit all year round.
