Very good stay. Flexible and good meals. Many activities for families with children during the summer months, I would assume.

Feels a bit like a second-class visitor. Miss the option for charging plug-in hybrid cars. The price should be about 20% of electric cars.

Had a great stay, we had a double room with a terrace and minibar, lacked nothing. The staff was accommodating and cheerful 😃 the dinners were excellent 👍 the chef must be very skilled, tasted fantastic, and the breakfast was inviting and good. We will definitely be back 👍 thanks from us 😃. A small downside was that when we booked through Rivskog bilferie, the booking stated that we would receive a welcome drink upon arrival at the hotel, which we did not see anything of 😬🤔.

This stay was a great experience that we do not hesitate to recommend to others. Beautiful place with great surroundings and top-notch service. In addition, we got a lot for our money. A gem in Setesdal, which in itself is a very beautiful part of Norway. Highly recommended both to Norwegians and our foreign visitors.

Rysstad Silver
On a trip to Setesdalen, you should not cheat yourself of a visit to the silversmith. Every year, several types of costume silver are worked on and hundreds of new jewellery models are developed for use in normal clothing. Setesdal silversmiths hold their own very well in the competition against industrial silver. At Sølvgården they have their own silver smithy.
Setesdalsmuseet
The Setesdal Museum at Rysstad takes you on a walk through the history and traditions of Setesdal.
Mountain hiking in Rysstad
Rysstad is the perfect place for the possibility of hiking in the mountains both for day trips and for longer hikes. There are many marked hiking trails in the area. The routes are at least 1-2 hours long. The routes include Rysstad's turpark, Løefjødd, Ulvedalsfjeldet, Kvisletoppen, Vardefjeld and Gloppefoss. The mountains in these areas are attracting more and more climbers. Climbers come from all over Europe. There are over 200 climbing routes, including Løefjeld, Hækni, Nomelandsfjeldet and Straumfjeldet. Straumfjeldet is home to Northern Europe's longest Via Ferrata (clear tracks equipped with steel cables, iron ladders and bridges).
Setes Valley
The landscape in Setesdal varies from flat villages to beautiful and wild high mountains. The road through the valley passes through small and large towns. Around every corner, new impressions await that can make you stop and enjoy nature and the peaceful surroundings. Silver Farm is the perfect starting point for adventures in the area, with short distances to attractions and nature experiences.
The wreck of the British bomber in Bygland
On 8 September 1941, a 4 B17c bomber flew from England for bombing missions against German ships in Oslo. Unfortunately, one of the aircraft was attacked by two German fighters, and crashed in Songedalslia on the west side of Byglandsfjorden. All the crew perished and are now buried in Bygland cemetery. You can see the wreckage from the plane around Mele kraftstasjo, a trip that takes about 2 to 4 hours. The tour goes through beautiful Norwegian terrain and not far from the wreckage, there is a beautiful view from the mountainside.
Bjoren Steamboat
Find child-friendly hotels in Norway at Risskov and take a trip on the steamship Bjoren, an old steamship that has connected towns on the Byglandsfjord since 1897. Today, the popular family boat is mostly used in summer by tourists who want to enjoy the beautiful Norwegian countryside up close. A trip on the steamer takes about 2 hours. Go on holiday in your own car and discover Norway's natural treasures with Risskov.
Hovden swimming pool and mountain spa
The beach is located in a scenic setting 850 metres above sea level. The water temperature is 30 C° both outdoors and indoors. The outdoor pool has bubble zones which provide a unique experience to swim in, in all weathers. The terrace is perfect for snow bathing in winter and the sun beds are ready in summer. The water park has a 70-metre water slide, a 65-metre "obstacle course" with rings to sit in while you float through waterfalls, bubble zones and water cannons. The Hovden Mountain Spa is free to use for all adult guests over the age of 18. Children are admitted before 1pm Monday to Saturday and all day Sunday accompanied by adults. The spa offers a Finnish sauna, steam bath, whirlpool with a fantastic panoramic view, foot bath, cave showers, sun loungers with a beautiful view of the mountains and private access to the outdoor pool and terraces with sun loungers in summer. In winter, the snow is ready for those who feel like a little snow bathing between visits to the steam bath and sauna, and Hovden bathing and mountain spa is therefore an ideal destination for both summer and winter holidays!
Mineral Park
In the Mineral Park you will find a spectacular stone collection. In these caves glitter some of the world's most beautiful stones, from which the entire adventure park is based. All children receive a treasure map on arrival, which they can use to go on a treasure hunt in the tunnel. The park area outside is also a lovely place to spend time with flowers, trees and stone sculptures.
