About the hotel
Located in the historic ironworks village of Söderfors, a former centre of Sweden's iron industry, this elegant manor hotel offers a distinctive stay where beautiful architecture, riverside scenery and modern hospitality come together.
About the hotel
Originally built in the 1690s and later remodelled in the Rococo style, Söderfors Herrgård is one of the region's most historic estates. Today, the manor welcomes guests with a unique blend of heritage, hospitality and contemporary amenities.
Food plays a central role in the experience. The manor restaurant serves seasonal menus inspired by local traditions and produce, all enjoyed in atmospheric dining rooms featuring a remarkable painted ceiling dating back to the 17th century. During the summer months, the riverside terrace provides a wonderful setting for lunch or dinner. Later in the evening, guests can continue the experience in the manor's cosy basement pub, where vaulted stone walls create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Complimentary Wi-Fi and free parking are available for all guests.
For relaxation, the hotel offers a spa area with sauna and wellness facilities, while one of the property's most distinctive features is its wood-fired sauna boat on the Dalälven River. Combining traditional Swedish sauna culture with beautiful river views, it offers a truly memorable way to unwind. Guests wishing to stay active can make use of the on-site gym or explore the surrounding countryside on foot or by bike.
The estate consists of the main manor house and several surrounding wings set around the historic courtyard. The main building houses hotel rooms, the restaurant and bar, while Brukshuset offers additional rooms and spa facilities. The manor is surrounded by spacious grounds that stretch down towards the Dalälven River. Mature trees, open lawns and walking paths create a peaceful setting for a stroll.
The location is ideal for discovering both nature and culture. The historic Söderfors ironworks lies within walking distance, while the Dalälven River offers excellent opportunities for fishing and outdoor recreation. Day trips to Gävle and Uppsala are easily arranged, and Stockholm is approximately two hours away by car.
Rooms
The rooms at Söderfors Herrgård are individually decorated and reflect the character of the historic estate. Each room features a private bathroom, TV, desk, Wi-Fi, hairdryer and complimentary toiletries. Guests can choose from comfortable single and double rooms to more spacious manor-style and deluxe rooms, some offering views of the surrounding parkland and space for an extra bed.
