Glud Museum

If you are interested in cultural history, you should visit the Glud Museum, where you can get an insight into rural life in East Jutland over the past 350 years. At Frilandsmuseet you can see a collection of historic buildings from East Jutland. Among other things, visit Denmark's oldest farmhouse, built in 1662, and the beautiful four-long farm "Badensminde" from 1811.

Damgaard Mill

Damgaard Mill was built in 1867 after the Dutch model. The fascinating story of Baron Stampe and the new constitution of 1848, which forced farmers to have their grain milled at certain mills so that taxes could be collected, can be relived with a trip to the very interesting and well-maintained mill.

Haderslev

Haderslev is a 700 year old market town, which is marked by its long history. Fierce fires in 1627 and 1759 destroyed large parts of the town, but despite the devastation, it remains well preserved. After the fires, rococo gabled houses were built and many of them still remain, dating back to the 16th century - it is especially southeast of the cathedral that the old gabled houses can be found.

There are several guided tours around the city, and if you are interested in architectural history, we highly recommend a guided tour of the old town and the interesting stories hidden in the walls of the historic buildings.

The cathedral is part of the city centre and also Haderslev's landmark. The Gothic cathedral, also called the Church of Our Lady, can be seen from all sides as it is built on the highest point of the city. Most Fridays of the year, the Slevigske Musikkorps (Slevigian Music Corps) holds a guard parade from the barracks to the cathedral, where they turn over a page in the regiment's Book of Remembrance, honouring all the fallen from the regiment, from the battles against the Prussians and Austrians in 1864 to the last wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. So Haderslev is always worth considering when planning a holiday in Denmark or just going away for a relaxing weekend break.

Security Position North

Security Position North is a fortress facility which the Germans planned during World War I. Security Position North was built in the period of 1916-1918 and was intended to prevent the invasion of Germany from the north. The fortress facility is amongst the best preserved in the world.

Aabenraa

Aabenraa is a cosy trading town in Southern Jutland and the charming old town offers cobbled streets and houses with beautifully decorated doors. In Aabenraa you can go shopping in Denmark's longest pedestrian street.

In Aabenraa you can visit the Maritime Museum, go to an art exhibition at the old railway station or visit the exciting art exhibitions at Brundlund Castle.

The city's big annual event is the Ringriderfesten, which takes place on the first weekend in July. Up to 500 horses parade through the city, accompanied by various orchestras from all over Europe. The parade ends at the big ring-riding arena, where young and old compete to become this year's ring-riding king.

Gram Slot

The beautiful Gram Castle is surrounded by moats in green surroundings. The castle is located in the cosy town of Gram, where there is a great atmosphere.

The castle is now used as an event venue. It can accommodate up to 50,000 guests and offers concerts, holiday apartments and a large organic farm. In addition, history, culture, architecture and nature are highly valued and presented at the castle.
