Well-maintained hotel but the evening meal included was of lunch type. The location is good in a nice small town with many cultural monuments nearby plus Lake Hornborga with cranes.

The hotel was super nice, and good service
The breakfast was very dull, no fruit of any kind, too few staff in the morning, 1 person for serving and clearing, but was sweet and friendly

A little dirty, like beard hairs under the plug in the bathroom. Otherwise, everything is good.

The nicest city hotel we have stayed at. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Very good beds. But the breakfast was small. And unfortunately, they were not very good at refilling when it was almost ****.

Everything was great and what a fantastic art collection (Lars Lerin) at the hotel! However, I wish for a better dinner offering in the evening. Sausage stroganoff and meatballs are children's/lunch food for me. We chose to pay for food from the menu (and it was incredibly good).

Really nice hotel and lovely stay.
However, we had expected a more festive menu the second evening. Meatballs are basically ok, but it becomes somewhat "Ikea-style," which we hadn't exactly expected to have.

Easy and straightforward booking process.
Photos of Skara Stadshotell don't lie; on the contrary, the hotel turned out to be better than in the photos.
Beautiful and stylish interior executed with respect for the hotel's age and history.
The food was good and served by smiling and service-minded staff.
Located right in the center with views of the historic church and town hall.
Cozy little town with charming old properties - though we missed a bit more life.
All in all, a really lovely stay.

Fantastic fine hotel, elegant, stylish, great room and an absolutely fantastic "exhibition" of Lars Lerin paintings. Incredibly nice, worth just going into the hotel to look at. Very friendly staff, would love to come back here. Skara as a town wasn't much, but the hotel made up for everything 👏👏👍

Nice, fresh, tastefully renovated with an emphasis on Värmland artist! Extra plus! Quiet area. Friendly staff "everywhere." Excellent breakfast, but it's a pity for the one who works alone and can't keep up during breakfast. Nice relationship with dogs, but maybe a bit expensive. Not all dogs eat the furniture. Thank you!

Fantastic environment in a carefully renovated city hotel - a plus is of course all the art. Lovely rooms, bath towels that for once wrapped around the whole body, and friendly staff. Would gladly go back again :)

Västergötlands Museum
In Skara you can visit the Västergötland Museum and the Veterinary Museum. Västergötland's Museum has permanent exhibitions showing life as it unfolded in the area over time and a varying number of temporary exhibitions. At the back you can find the open-air museum Fornbyn, an idyllic museum in 1930s buildings that portrays the area's old farming community.
Skara Summerland
Welcome to Skara, Scandinavia's largest water park with a funfair and go-kart track. The water park is one of the largest water parks, water slides and several pool areas. In other words, a water adventure for the whole family! The amusement park has everything from quiet rides to the fast attractions and slides. The park also features playgrounds and summer activities suitable for children of all ages.
Lake Hornborga
If you are interested in nature and bird life, a visit to the Hornborgasjön Nature Centre is a must. On the pillars out in the water by the bird sanctuary, their knowledgeable staff will guide you through the area's nature, geology and history. Hornborgasjön is one of Europe's most important migratory bird areas, and you can see this bird paradise from the beautiful limestone and oak viewing platform. In spring around April you may also be lucky to see cranes dancing at Hornborgasjön, so for those interested in ornithology, a cheap winter holiday or mini break in spring is a great idea!
Läckö Castle
Explore Sweden on a self-drive holiday with Risskov. Bring the whole family and find child-friendly hotels for your trip. Start with a trip to Läckö Slott which is located next to Sweden's largest lake, Vänern. The oldest parts of the castle date back to 1298 and were built by a bishop from Skara. The castle took on its current appearance during the 1600s.
Today the castle is used for exhibitions, opera and has an excellent restaurant. Find a cheap summer or winter holiday and go on a self-drive holiday to Sweden and Vänern.
Göta Canal
Along the canal, you can walk or cycle and visit the cosy cafés and restaurants. It offers a wide range of events along the canal during the year, for example Christmas activities, with Christmas dinners, fun activities and beautiful surroundings.
Boat trips on the canal are also available. And these can last from a few hours to close to a week.
Vättern
Sweden's second largest lake and Europe's sixth largest. The lake is known for its very clear water, which actually supplies many of the area's municipalities. There are also several beaches at Lake Vättern. However, the water can be quite cold in some places.
