Lovely place, not the last time we come there. Easy if you want to leave the car. The train to Skagen or the other way to Ålbæk etc. can be reached on foot. About 300 m. Just for info, you can't hear it. Lovely large nature area. Good when you have a dog with you. Many activities if you're into that. Really sweet staff.
Lovely with breakfast to take with you into the house. It gives a nice calm start to the day.
If I were to suggest something to change, I would probably place a tile by the entrance door in the houses so you walk more straight out.

Skagen
In Skagen, where two oceans meet, there are experiences for everyone all year round. In Skagen you will find some of Denmark's most beautiful and white sand beaches, a vibrant city life, inspiring museums and a completely unique nature.
Råbjerg Mile, Northern Europe's largest migrating dune
Råbjerg Mile is one of Denmark's most remarkable natural attractions, located near Skagen in North Jutland. This impressive migrating coastal sand dune spans approximately 1 square kilometre and moves up to 15 metres annually due to strong winds. Visitors can experience the vast, almost desert-like landscape, complete with panoramic views of the surrounding area. The dune offers a unique opportunity to explore Denmark’s dynamic natural environment, making it a popular destination for families, photographers, and nature enthusiasts. Its ever-changing form and tranquillity provide a fascinating insight into the region’s natural history and a memorable outdoor adventure.
The sand buried church
The Sand-Buried Church (Den Tilsandede Kirke) near Skagen is a fascinating historical site and natural wonder. Built in the 14th century and dedicated to St. Lawrence, the church was gradually engulfed by drifting sand over several centuries. By 1795, only the tower remained visible, and the church was abandoned. Today, visitors can explore the preserved whitewashed tower, a striking contrast to the surrounding sand dunes and greenery. The site offers insight into Skagen’s history and the power of nature, making it a unique attraction for history enthusiasts, photographers, and those exploring the region’s distinctive landscape.
Eagle sanctuary
Find an active holiday with Risskov and experience nature and the residents with Risskov. Visit the amazing Eagle World; the Eagle National Park in Bindslev. Here you will have an experience of a lifetime in the company of around 100 eagles and falcons. The reserve was established in 1980 by the, now deceased, Polish author and nature photographer, Frank Wenzel, who spent more than 55 years of his life studying and photographing birds of prey. Find a short break or a cheap weekend break and see the beautiful birds of prey in their own habitat.
Skagen Museum
Skagens Museum is located in northernmost Jutland and exhibits a unique collection of works by the Skagen painters, with names such as Anna and Michael Ancher, Marie and P.S. Krøyer, Laurits Tuxen, Viggo Johansen and Holger Drachmann adorning the walls. In 2014, the collection was expanded with the merger of Ancher's and Drachmann's homes, which still stand as they did then. Experience first-hand the exciting artists' homes and how these extraordinary Danish artists lived their everyday lives.
Raet National Park
The national park covers approximately 185 square kilometres of the outermost archipelago from Hasseltangen in Grimstad to Lyngør at Tvedestrand. It is Sørland's first national park and is located in the Aust-Agder archipelago.
The largest island in Sørland is called Tomøy and lies just outside Arendal. On the far side of Tromøya is Spornes beach, which has its own shingle, and with views of the lighthouses Big and Little Spire, which can just be glimpsed in the distance.
At Tromøy there are also great opportunities for cycling in the beautiful terrain, which is also suitable for families with children. Take the ferry from Tyholmen in Arendal to Akilså, which is the northwestern part of Tromøy, it is free to bring the bikes, if they are rented city bikes in Arendal.
Palm beaches
Find a car holiday in Denmark at Risskov and go on a self-drive experience to North Jutland with the whole family. Don't forget your swimwear, because in summer Palmestranden at Ålbæk Bugt is the place to be. The 500-metre-long beach is beautifully decorated with palm trees, giving beachgoers a real southern feel. In addition to the cool salt water, there is beach volleyball, beach football and petanque. Find child-friendly hotels in North Jutland at Risskov and go on an adventure in Jutland with all the family members and Fido.
Hirsholmene
Have a cheap mini holiday and visit Denmark's northernmost islands Hirsholmene. The beautiful small archipelago is located in the Kattegat off Frederikshavn and includes the islands Hirsholm, Græsholm, Kølpen, Deget and Tyvholm. The Stenrevsøerne, which have been protected since 1938, are home to a fantastic wealth of natural and animal life and are thus a genuine nature reserve in the Kattegat. You can get to Hirsholmene by boat from the harbour in Frederikshavn, from Østerby Harbour on Læsø or from Vestersø. The tours are supported by the Danish Nature Agency.
Frederikshavn
Go on a car holiday in Denmark and find a cheap summer holiday or winter holiday at the top of Denmark with Risskov. At the top is Frederikshavn, facing the Kattegat. Frederikshavn is a commercial city that receives over 5 million visitors each year, and it's no wonder as there is so much to experience. The city has a cosy atmosphere surrounded by beautiful nature and the lovely fresh breeze from the sea.
Try a trip up the Krudttårnet or visit Fiskeklyngen, the oldest part of Frederikshavn, dating back to 1568. Historical experiences await at Bangsbo Fort and the Bunker Museum, located in the southern part of Frederikshavn. From the fort there is a magnificent view over Frederikshavn and Kattegat, and on a good day it is possible to see all the way to Skagen. The bunker museum is part of 20 bunkers that are no longer used by the navy. Spend the summer on Palm Beach and all year round there are various events in town. Find child-friendly hotels in the area at Risskov and take the whole family on a self-drive experience to the northernmost part of Denmark.
Arena North
Go on a summer holiday or weekend break in Frederikshavn and visit Arena Nord, the largest event centre north of the Limfjord. The 7000 m² building is a unique and aesthetic piece of architecture, and is the setting for various theatre performances, stand-up comedy, concerts, lectures, trade fairs and sports events. Beautiful Frederikshavn is a great place to spend a weekend - and cheap weekend breaks can be booked at Risskov!
Pikkerbakken
Pikkerbakken is located in the south of Frederikshavn and is part of a 3 km long coastal slope, formed during the ice age. The height of the slope is attributed to the fact that this area has experienced Denmark's largest land uplift. The hill rises 71 metres above sea level, and from here you get an incomparable panoramic view of Frederikshavn city and the beautiful Hirsholme in Kattegat. The hill also played an important role during the 2nd World War. World War. Just a few days after the occupation, the first German troops arrived at Pikkerbakken and began setting up anti-aircraft guns to protect the ships leaving Frederikshavn harbour.
The Reef
Visit Scandic The Reef's large tropical swimming pool. The Reef offers a very special bathing experience with its Caribbean rainforest climate, palm trees, rocks and clear blue water. There is a wave pool, underwater treasure hunt, waterslide, waterfall, spa area and much more. The Reef is fun and enjoyable for people of all ages, but the kids - well they'll love it!
