Cozy older hotel with a fabulous location. Worn rooms, but if you can live with that, it's a great place. Friendly staff and good and plentiful food.

Nice room, but cobwebs on the ceiling over the toilet. Lunch and dinner portions are way too big! Must be a lot of waste! Great location!

Nice hotel. Partially renovated, we stayed in one of the rooms that wasn't. But still a good room, clean and nice, and with a view over the water. The hotel is well located for exploring Setesdalen and parts of southern Norway. Friendly staff, great food.

Trollaktiv
Tim Davis started Troll Mountain in 1993 after 14 years in the British military. The military career was based on sport and outdoor activities, based both in the southern German Alps and in Norway. In its early days the company focused on ski touring and winter activities, but in the summer of 1994 it invested in a raft and 8 canoes.
Their rich range of activities includes rafting, family rafting, SUP, pro-rafting, riverboarding, rock climbing/rappelling, 10 metre high climbing wall, climbing park, kayaking on the river, beaver and moose safari, battlefield live, axe throwing, bow and arrow, canoeing, mountain biking and a fishing school. They are open every day from mid-April to the end of October.
The view at Landeskogen Bygland
The view at Landeskogen Bygland, which can be reached from the parking lot at Årdal, opened in 1916. The paths were built so that patients from the Landeskogen Peace Center could enjoy the beautiful scenery. The path up to the viewpoint is easily accessible with a beautiful view of the Byglandsfjord. The walk is estimated to take 2 hours in easy forest terrain.
Landeskogen Peace Center
Go on a driving holiday in Norway and discover the beautiful nature and the many small but exciting sights. Not so for the Landeskogen Peace Center, which is quite large. Find child-friendly hotels in the area and visit Landeskogen, which was originally intended for patients with tuberculosis. In 1962 it was used as a centre for the mentally retarded, and in recent years it has been used as a political peace centre. Stop by on a self-drive holiday in Norway and see the exciting building up close. There are several family-friendly trips to Norway to choose from at Risskov, so start planning a cheap summer holiday or winter break with the car and family.
Mineral Park
In the Mineral Park you will find a spectacular stone collection. In these caves glitter some of the world's most beautiful stones, from which the entire adventure park is based. All children receive a treasure map on arrival, which they can use to go on a treasure hunt in the tunnel. The park area outside is also a lovely place to spend time with flowers, trees and stone sculptures.
The wreck of the British bomber in Bygland
On 8 September 1941, a 4 B17c bomber flew from England for bombing missions against German ships in Oslo. Unfortunately, one of the aircraft was attacked by two German fighters, and crashed in Songedalslia on the west side of Byglandsfjorden. All the crew perished and are now buried in Bygland cemetery. You can see the wreckage from the plane around Mele kraftstasjo, a trip that takes about 2 to 4 hours. The tour goes through beautiful Norwegian terrain and not far from the wreckage, there is a beautiful view from the mountainside.
Bjoren Steamboat
Find child-friendly hotels in Norway at Risskov and take a trip on the steamship Bjoren, an old steamship that has connected towns on the Byglandsfjord since 1897. Today, the popular family boat is mostly used in summer by tourists who want to enjoy the beautiful Norwegian countryside up close. A trip on the steamer takes about 2 hours. Go on holiday in your own car and discover Norway's natural treasures with Risskov.
The zoo in Kristiansand
Kristiansand Zoo is one of Norway's largest family attractions, offering a complete experience package for the whole family. The park is open every day all year round and also offers places to play and learn. Over a million visitors visit the park each year. You'll find more than 150 species of animals from the wilds of Norway and around the world, as well as a number of children's attractions based on Torbjørn Egner's stories, such as The Animals of Hakkebakkeskoven and People and Robbers in Kardemomme Town.

Take a wonderful self-drive holiday in Southern Norway with a Christmas trip to Kristiansand, which transforms into a beautiful and atmospheric Christmas town every December. From the official start of the market until Christmas is over, there will be plenty of exciting things to do in the city, from the market itself with its many stalls and lovely smells and ice rink to the big, beautiful 3D light show at the city's cathedral. The sound show has become a very popular tradition and runs for several days in December. There are also plenty of great shopping opportunities and the town's shops are usually open on Sundays for the last three Sundays in December.
Let yourself be seduced by the many impressions at the market and wander around the stalls, which offer crafts, art, homemade goods, jewellery and, of course, Christmas gifts and inspiration in all shapes and sizes.
