Tim Davis started Troll Mountain in 1993 after 14 years in the British military. The military career was based on sport and outdoor activities, based both in the southern German Alps and in Norway. In its early days the company focused on ski touring and winter activities, but in the summer of 1994 it invested in a raft and 8 canoes.

Their rich range of activities includes rafting, family rafting, SUP, pro-rafting, riverboarding, rock climbing/rappelling, 10 metre high climbing wall, climbing park, kayaking on the river, beaver and moose safari, battlefield live, axe throwing, bow and arrow, canoeing, mountain biking and a fishing school. They are open every day from mid-April to the end of October.

The view at Landeskogen Bygland

The view at Landeskogen Bygland, which can be reached from the parking lot at Årdal, opened in 1916. The paths were built so that patients from the Landeskogen Peace Center could enjoy the beautiful scenery. The path up to the viewpoint is easily accessible with a beautiful view of the Byglandsfjord. The walk is estimated to take 2 hours in easy forest terrain.

The wreck of the British bomber in Bygland

On 8 September 1941, a 4 B17c bomber flew from England for bombing missions against German ships in Oslo. Unfortunately, one of the aircraft was attacked by two German fighters, and crashed in Songedalslia on the west side of Byglandsfjorden. All the crew perished and are now buried in Bygland cemetery. You can see the wreckage from the plane around Mele kraftstasjo, a trip that takes about 2 to 4 hours. The tour goes through beautiful Norwegian terrain and not far from the wreckage, there is a beautiful view from the mountainside.

Bjoren Steamboat
