Papenburg

Papenburg is a town in the Emsland district of Lower Saxony located on the River Ems. The town is known for its large shipyard, which specialises in building cruise ships. At the famous shipyard "Meyer Werft" you can follow the production of the large luxury cruise ships. Visit the Meyer Werft visitor centre, which gives you an interesting insight into shipbuilding.

Meyer Shipyard

Go on holiday in your own car and visit Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany. Every year the yard is visited by around 300,000 visitors to see how state-of-the-art shipbuilding works. Clemenswerth Castle

Visit the graceful baroque castle of Clemenswerth, which takes visitors on a fascinating journey through time in the style of an elector. The castle is one of the most attractive cultural monuments in northern Germany. A total of eight avenues flanked by lime trees lead up to the beautiful hunting lodge. The historic building is incredibly well preserved and surrounded by eight pavilions, including the castle chapel with the Capuchin monastery, which is still in use today.

Monastery Ter Apel

In the south-western part of the Dutch province of Groningen lies the monastery of Ter Apel, built back in 1465. Formerly used by pilgrims, the monastery is now an exciting destination for art and culture lovers. The history of the building can be seen in the mix of old and new architecture and inside the monastery houses both permanent and temporary exhibitions.
