Pleasant stay in a historic town. The food is not traditional inn food when ordering through Risskov, but rather gourmet-like, though in small portions.
5/5
It was nice and really good food.
However, there was quite a bit of traffic noise from the road.

The food was fantastic, gourmet BUT there could be a small piece of bread for the starter and a little bit of potatoes with the meat. The breakfast was absolutely perfect.

Lovely cozy hotel, good rooms and wonderful food. Mariager is also a cozy town by the fjord that invites you to drive and walk around. All in all, three good days.

There could have been one more person working in the morning. Empty dishes and there wasn't any clearing when some guests finished their breakfast.

Excellent 2-day stay, we enjoyed the area and nature around Mariager.

Our first visit to Mariager and Hotel Postgården, which has been gently renovated, allowing us to get a sense of the decor that probably existed in the restaurant and pub room once. We were greeted by a young and very service-minded staff. Dinner consisted of two small tasty servings. On the last evening, the house offered a third serving free of charge. We couldn't eat any more. I especially appreciated the chef's handling of vegetables and the deliciousness of the dishes on the manageable menu. Thank you to Hotel Postgården. We will gladly come again.

Mariager Salt Centre
Go on holiday in your own car and enjoy a cheap weekend break or mini holiday in Denmark. A visit to Mariager Salt Centre is always a fun and educational experience. Mariager Saltcenter is located in the small, cosy harbour at Mariager Fjord.
There is no doubt about what is important in the Salt Centre, and there is indeed salt everywhere. Discover how salt is made in the 'salt hut' and then go into the 'salt mine' or how about an educational trip to the cinema. In Salt Touch guests can enjoy wellness and spa, not a bad idea with a little pampering after your visit. You can finish off your visit with a visit to Café Salt, which serves everything from lunch to coffee. But of course, the tour is not complete until the Salt Shop's many interesting items have been thoroughly examined. Perhaps it was something about a salt lamp or some southern salt from Mariager, the possibilities are many in the small shop.
Viking Centre Fyrkat
Go on a driving holiday in Denmark and discover the country's exciting history with Risskov. Find child-friendly hotels for a summer holiday, winter holiday or autumn holiday and set off on an adventure to Fyrkat, which was built around 980 under the Danish Viking King Harald Bluetooth. The castle no longer exists, but the ramparts that mark the town's size can still be seen. Behind the rampart 16 longhouses were built, which are today marked with white stones and just outside the rampart a faithful replica of a longhouse measuring almost 29 metres in length and built entirely of oak has been built.
The archaeological finds excavated around the castle and at the graves can be seen at Hobro Museum. Also visit the Viking farm, which with its nine houses and forge is a great man's farm as it looked when Harald Bluetooth was king. The Viking Centre Fyrkat has a lot to offer and is perfect for a family trip, even with the little ones. Plan the perfect family self-drive holiday and learn more about the exciting history of Denmark on the trip.
Randers Rainforest
Visit a whole other world. That's how it feels when you go to Randers Rainforest. The hot and humid air mixes with the sounds of foaming waterfalls and the many animal sounds that echo through the tropical rainforest in Randers. In the green surroundings, plenty of exciting experiences await. Watch small and very industrious leaf-cutter ants as they saw the leaves into tiny pieces or greet the beautiful jaguars that help make the tropical adventure a very special experience. Visit the great continents of Africa, South America and Asia or try a trip into the dreaded Temple of the Serpent.
World map
Go on a cheap car holiday in Denmark and visit the World Map at Hobro. One day, some meadows were to be drained near Klejtrup Lake, south of Hobro, and a stone appeared that looked like Jutland. This prompted Søren Poulsen, a dancing cameraman, to build his own little world in the meadows. The new world was built between 1944 and 1969 and measures 45 x 90 metres. It was built by placing large stones on top of the frozen meadows and in the places where the worlds were to be. When the ice melted, the stones could be tilted into place with some difficulty. The equator is marked with red poles and the whole world map is reproduced with lakes, rivers and famous mountain ranges, so it's easy to send mum and dad to Australia, Borneo or Mount Everest if they want to. There's also an 18-hole mini-golf course on the World Map and in summer it's a great place to enjoy a sail in the Pacific Ocean, where even the little ones can join in, although there may be a few waves. Find a cheap summer holiday at Risskov and take the whole family on an adventure around the world on the 'World Map',
Mariager Fjord
Go on a car holiday in Denmark and find a cheap hotel close to Mariager Fjord at Risskov. Mariager Fjord is also known as Denmark's Most Beautiful Fjord and the area around the fjord is full of great experiences. For example, discover the small, cosy fjord villages, each with its own unique charm. Visit the holiday village of Øster Hurup, which has Denmark's most child-friendly beach. An ideal destination for a summer holiday and family holiday in Denmark. Find a mini holiday or a cheap weekend break at Risskov and get away with the whole family on an adventure at Mariager.
Memphis Mansion
Memphis Mansion an obvious destination on a cheap car holiday in Denmark. Take the opportunity to have lunch at Graceland, which is a replica of Elvis Presley's house in Memphis, Tennessee. Inside you'll find the world's only museum outside the US about Elvis, his music and his life.
Rold Skov
Rold Skov is Denmark's largest forest. With its 8000 hectares, it offers plenty of experiences of various kinds. Of course, the forest offers a lot of nice hikes, for example around the lake Store Økssø. Rold Skov is a true mecca for MTB riders, as there are routes of varying difficulty and length. Horse riding in the vast forest is also popular. There is also a wonderful nature playground, Røverknolden, which invites you to play and have fun.
In the old days it could be quite dangerous to visit the place. Legendary robbers such as Bette Fanden, Long Ajes, Lorentz Nielsen and Petronillen kept a sharp eye on the inn, and when guests on their way home passed through Rold Skov, the robbers would strike. But thankfully the robberies in the forest are a thing of the past and today only the legend lives on, along with the beautiful statues commemorating the four robbers.
Hvolris Iron Age Village
At Skals Ådal, about 17 km north of Viborg, is Hvolris Jernalderlandsby, which is an open-air museum, which also includes a large nature area with a nature playground and small trails that lead around the area. Start by exploring the 'Timberlands', where there is an archaeological exhibition with several of the interesting finds unearthed around Hvolris. People have lived here since the Stone Age, around 6000 years ago. One of the special things about the Iron Age village is that the excavations are located next to the rebuilt houses and workshops, which are now part of the exciting and educational Iron Age environment. Throughout the year, a number of courses are held in various ancient crafts and there are also many activities during the holidays. Get your sword sharpened and take a trip back in time in a really fun and entertaining way at Hvolris Iron Age Village, a perfect destination for the whole family's summer holiday or as part of a weekend break or mini break in the Jutland region.
Rebild bakker
Rebild National Park is a large area of heather-clad hills. There's plenty of opportunity for a great day out in nature - there's something for everyone, whether you're into mountain biking or long walks.
Viborg Cathedral
Explore Denmark with Risskov and drive yourself to the experiences that await. One of the many surprises that Viborg hides is its beautiful cathedral, whose history dates back to the 12th century. Along the way up through the ages, the church experienced several serious fires, with the last one razing it to the ground in 1726. As a result, not much remained of the beautiful cathedral, in fact, only the old crypt survived the ravages of time. The rest has been rebuilt and the present church was consecrated in 1876. In the crypt's southern chapel is the Well of St. Kjeld, where many sick people, and especially the blind, are said to have been healed. The walls and vaults of the cathedral were decorated by the artist Joakim Skovgaard and his assistants, who covered the walls and vaults of the cathedral with very colourful frescoes from the Bible story, from Adam and Eve to the end times, from 1901 to 1913. Find gay-friendly hotels in Viborg and the surrounding area and go on a self-drive holiday at your own pace with the whole family.
