Security Position North

Security Position North is a fortress facility which the Germans planned during World War I. Security Position North was built in the period of 1916-1918 and was intended to prevent the invasion of Germany from the north. The fortress facility is amongst the best preserved in the world.

Damgaard Mill

Damgaard Mill was built in 1867 after the Dutch model. The fascinating story of Baron Stampe and the new constitution of 1848, which forced farmers to have their grain milled at certain mills so that taxes could be collected, can be relived with a trip to the very interesting and well-maintained mill.

Aabenraa

Aabenraa is a cosy trading town in Southern Jutland and the charming old town offers cobbled streets and houses with beautifully decorated doors. In Aabenraa you can go shopping in Denmark's longest pedestrian street.

In Aabenraa you can visit the Maritime Museum, go to an art exhibition at the old railway station or visit the exciting art exhibitions at Brundlund Castle.

The city's big annual event is the Ringriderfesten, which takes place on the first weekend in July. Up to 500 horses parade through the city, accompanied by various orchestras from all over Europe. The parade ends at the big ring-riding arena, where young and old compete to become this year's ring-riding king.

Brundtland Golf Centre

The beautiful and extremely well-maintained 18-hole golf course is relatively flat and characterised by wide fairways, several lakes and fast greens. The course is rated at par 73 and offers good and exciting challenges for golfers of all levels. Both ladies and gentlemen have two tee times to choose from. (Ladies: red and yellow | Gentlemen: yellow and white).

During the development of the course, inspiration was drawn from several first-class golf courses abroad. The course has been used several times during the Ecco Tour with great success and much praise.

If you are not a member of a club, there are still great opportunities to play golf! Brundtland Golf also has one of Denmark's most beautiful Pay & Play courses. Everyone is welcome here and newcomers have the opportunity to try out the game, while the more experienced can practice and fine-tune their skills. The Pay & Play course has 9 holes with seven par 3s and two par 4s.

Gram Slot

The beautiful Gram Castle is surrounded by moats in green surroundings. The castle is located in the cosy town of Gram, where there is a great atmosphere.

The castle is now used as an event venue. It can accommodate up to 50,000 guests and offers concerts, holiday apartments and a large organic farm. In addition, history, culture, architecture and nature are highly valued and presented at the castle.

Tønder

The southern Jutland town of Tønder is only 5 kilometres from the Danish-German border and has about 8,000 inhabitants. Take a stroll through the charming streets, which are surrounded by small shops and cosy restaurants and cafés.

Tønder is Denmark's oldest town, with rights dating back to 1243. The town is particularly known for its retail trade and for the sale of silver.

Every year, the city holds the Tønder Festival, an event that brings together a large number of the city's inhabitants and is also very well attended by visitors from both home and abroad. Tønder Festival is a musical festival that focuses mainly on jazz music.

In addition, the romantic atmosphere of the city attracts thousands of couples every year who come to Tønder to get married.

Ribe in December is an ideal place to spend a mini break or a long weekend and get a lot of Christmas shopping done.

Visit the Christmas market in Ribe, which is all about "Peter's Christmas". The classic tale of Peter's Christmas is Mathilde Cold F. Kjær's childhood story of her own Christmas in Ribe. Her childhood home, Porsborg, has now been converted into Ribe Tourist Office.

In Ribe, the Christmas market is built around Peter's Christmas, and in the town's cobbled streets, from November until Christmas, it is possible to walk around and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere in the fairytale Christmas market that forms the framework for Christmas traditions in the oldest market town in Scandinavia.

With a history that can be traced back to around 700, when the first trading post was built, there is plenty of history in the city. Many of the well-preserved buildings and houses are now listed, and together with Denmark's oldest town hall form a historic setting. The town hall dates back to 1496, and has served as the town hall since 1709.

The Christmas market in town consists of a number of stalls where it is possible to buy everything from Christmas confectionery, to traditional pretzels and gingerbread, as well as all sorts of alternative homemade Christmas gifts.
