Sculpture Park Billund

At Skulpturpark Billund, art and nature merge into one, creating a landscape that invites you to relax and contemplate. The sculptures are placed along a 1.3 km long path, where at the time of writing there are 21 permanent works of art to experience. The aim is to add somewhere between 20 and 30 more sculptures over the next few years. Each sculpture has its own QR code, which can be scanned for more information on the individual artwork. Artists include Jens Galschiot, Sawako Ando and HRH Prince Henrik himself. The park is open all year round and is child, disabled and wheelchair friendly.

Lalandia

Deep Forest Art Land

Deep Forest Art Land is a unique open-air exhibition space where art and nature are in wonderful harmony. Some of the works slowly fade away over time, while new ones are constantly being added. Other works are made of a material that can easily withstand a bit of wind and weather, so there's a constant transformation going on. Guided tours are available to provide information about each work of art, and around Christmas time there will also be small Christmas activities.

Givskud Zoo

In the middle of Jutland you will find Givskud Zoo. Go on safari with the whole family in your own car or on the safari bus and experience the exciting animals up close - just as if you were on the African savannah. Remember to keep the windows closed when the lions circle the car and when the zebras and giraffes pass by. You'll also find fun sea creatures, such as sea lions, and don't miss Denmark's largest dinosaur exhibit, with over 40 life-size specimens. The day will easily disappear when you are at Givskud Zoo.

Jelling Monuments

Go on a driving holiday in Denmark and discover the exciting history hidden all around the country. Find a cheap holiday at Risskov and take the whole family to Jelling, where you can visit the impressive Viking Age monument site. The Jelling monuments consist of two rune stones, two very large mounds, Europe's largest stone settlement and the marking of a 1.4 km long palisade fence that surrounds the entire area. Right in the middle of the monument is Jelling Church, a Romanesque stone church from 1100, where Gorm the Old was reburied in 2000. The small rune stone was erected by Gorm the Old and is the oldest testimony to the name of Denmark. For the same reason, the stone is called Denmark's name certificate. The large rune stone was erected by Harald Bluetooth and marks the transition from paganism to Christianity and is therefore also known as Denmark's baptismal certificate.

The monument is considered to be Europe's finest Viking monument and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994.

Bluetooth technology, used for wireless communication in mobile phones and computers, is named after the Danish king, Harald Bluetooth, because of his ability to communicate between different factions. Fjordenhus

In June 2018, Vejle got a brand new and very special landmark. The world-famous Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson is behind Fjordenhus, a unique building located on Vejle's waterfront. The artwork is packed with details and unconventional angles, and nature has been thought into the construction itself.

The 9,000 square metre building rises 28 metres from the harbour basin and consists of four interconnected cylinders that connect the fjord to the city. The building is made so that it is possible to sail through in a kayak and experience a very special angle. The top of the building is planted with solar panels and at night it is lit from within, almost looking like a lighthouse in the dark.

The walls of the building are made up of thousands of narrow rectangular bricks, with several blue and green stones in between. The green stones dominate the lower part of the building, around the fjord, while the blue ones become more numerous as the building rises towards the sky. And this is just one example of how nature has been taken into account. Another example is a sculpture that is alternately revealed and hidden by the tide.

Thus, it is a unique building where art and architecture merge into one, in beautiful harmony with the surrounding nature.

The ground floor is open to the public every day between 07.00 and 24.00 and there are regular guided tours where you can get an insight into the artist's thoughts and ideas behind the design of the building and the various works of art it houses.

Gorilla Park Vejle

Gorilla Park Vejle is an adventure climbing park with 6 individual obstacle courses that take you through the treetops of Nørreskov.  The courses vary in heights and degree in difficulty, so there are challenges for both young and old. Here you can cut loose in the best Tarzan and Jane style. 

Christmas market in Ribe

December is a very special month in Ribe, where all the streets are decorated for Christmas. The perfect place to get into the Christmas shopping spirit. Take a stroll through the cosy streets of the old town, which are decked out with Christmas lights and decorations, and settle down in one of the cafés where you can warm up with a cup of coffee or cocoa. Ribe in December is an ideal place to spend a mini break or a long weekend and get a lot of Christmas shopping done.

Visit the Christmas market in Ribe, which is all about "Peter's Christmas". The classic tale of Peter's Christmas is Mathilde Cold F. Kjær's childhood story of her own Christmas in Ribe. Her childhood home, Porsborg, has now been converted into Ribe Tourist Office.

In Ribe, the Christmas market is built around Peter's Christmas, and in the town's cobbled streets, from November until Christmas, it is possible to walk around and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere in the fairytale Christmas market that forms the framework for Christmas traditions in the oldest market town in Scandinavia.

With a history that can be traced back to around 700, when the first trading post was built, there is plenty of history in the city. Many of the well-preserved buildings and houses are now listed, and together with Denmark's oldest town hall form a historic setting. The town hall dates back to 1496, and has served as the town hall since 1709.

The Christmas market in town consists of a number of stalls where it is possible to buy everything from Christmas confectionery, to traditional pretzels and gingerbread, as well as all sorts of alternative homemade Christmas gifts.

Christmas at Quedens Gaard in Ribe

Experience Christmas at the Old Merchant's Farm, which will be filled with old-fashioned Christmas spirit. A tour of the farm is an experience for all the senses, where the scents of all kinds of Christmas delights spread, while it will be possible to taste confectionery, pretzels and roasted almonds. If this is not enough Christmas spirit, it is also possible to see traditional old-fashioned crafts, braided Christmas hearts and other Christmas traditions.
