Bad Dürnnberg

Salzburg

Salzburg is a cosy city in western Austria, known especially for its Baroque architecture, its history, its location on the Alps and The Sound of Music. The lovely festival city is always worth a visit. Among the must-see sights when you visit Salzburg is the castle, which looms on a mountain peak just above the river. Salzburg is also Mozart's birthplace and both his birthplace and his residence in later years can be visited. If you're a Sound of Music fan, the city is a must. All the wonderful locations from the popular film can be visited.

Salzburg Cathedral

The beautiful Salzburg Cathedral, built in the Baroque style and completed in 1628, is beautifully situated on the Domplatz square in the old town of Salzburg. The cathedral has a beautiful facade with two towers and a very high dome. It houses a museum with a large collection of church art and paintings. It is definitely worth a visit.

Mozart's House

W. A. Mozart was born in the "Hagenauer Haus" at No. 9 Getreidegasse in 1756. Today the house functions as a museum and displays 18th century furniture as well as portraits and some of Morzart's instruments. The fascinating museum tells the story of the famous composer's life and is one of the most visited museums in Austria. The museum is one of the highlights, especially for Mozart fans, when visiting the beautiful city of Salzburg.

Hohensalzburg Fortress

The imposing Hohensalzburg fortress sits high above the old town and is part of the Salzburg cityscape. The well-preserved fortress is huge and houses several interesting museums and a lovely garden. You can choose to walk up the steep path to the fortress or take the fast track. From the fortress you can enjoy the fantastic view of Salzburg and the beautiful mountains. Gollinger Vandfald

Gollinger vandfaldet er en af egnens mest besøgte og romantiske naturlige seværdigheder. Her kan I opleve vandet, der falder 75 meter ned i dalen. I kan parkere knap 10 minutters gang fra vandfaldet.

Lammerkløften

Lammerklamm (also known as Lammer Gorge) is a stunning natural monument near Scheffau in Salzburg. Carved by the Lammer River through steep limestone cliffs, the gorge stretches around 1,000 meters with a 43-meter drop between narrow and wide sections. A secure trail of wooden walkways, stairs, and bridges lets you explore “Dark Gorge” and calm pools of bright turquoise water in comfort. Open from spring through autumn, this scenic walk is well-suited for families, with nearby parking, restrooms, and optional entry from Oberscheffau that includes a traditional inn.

The ice caves in Werfen

The Werfen ice caves are the largest in the world, and here you can experience the mountains in a whole new way. You'll see ice palaces of crystal-clear beauty, which even on hot summer days are an ice world. The network of passageways in the caves stretches for over 42 km, the largest of which, about 1 km long, has several huge ice figures. A perfect destination for a driving holiday in the Austrian mountains.

Schafbergbahn - take the train to the mountain top

Take an exciting train ride with unique views! The Schafbergbahn is Austria's steepest railway and has been carrying passengers to the top of the 1783-metre-high Schafberg mountain since 1893. The journey takes about 35 minutes and in this time you cover almost 6 km and 1190 metres of altitude with a maximum gradient of 26%. The train runs from the station in St. Wolfgang from May to September. Take a nostalgic train ride on one of the world's oldest steam locomotives and enjoy the beautiful view of the Salzkammergut region's shining lakes, green forests and majestic mountain peaks.
