Lovely hotel with a wonderful wellness area. Air conditioning would have moved it up half or a whole star more to 4.5-5 😄😄

It is a really nice hotel, but it lacks air conditioning as standard in the rooms, as it was generally very hot in the rooms and the hotel itself.

Go on a car holiday in Germany and have a cheap summer holiday near Regensburg. There are child-friendly hotels and Germany is a glamping place to plan a self-drive family holiday. Visit the small town of Kelheim located southwest of Regensburg where you will find the amazing monument, Befreiungshalle, atop the Michelsberg. The monument commemorates the fight for freedom and victory over Napoleon's army between 1813 and 1815. The 59-metre high beautiful building dates from 1863 and is constructed in the form of a large rotunda, in a style reminiscent of ancient Rome. Inside you will see 34 victory statues, inscriptions of Ludwig I of Bavaria and 18 statues symbolising the 18 German "tribes" or peoples. Find a last minute hotel at Risskov and experience Germany at its best on a self-drive holiday.
Prunn Castle
Find a cheap weekend break for the whole family to Germany and visit the romantic castles or impressive monasteries along the Danube. For example, head to the prominent Prunn Castle, which sits high above the picturesque town of Altmühltal. The castle dates back to the 12th century and it was here that a manuscript of the famous Nibelungenlied was found. Go on a self-drive holiday and find child-friendly hotels in the area at Risskov.
Schottenkirche
At the western end of Regensburg is the Schottenkirche, originally a Benedictine monastery founded by Irish monks in 1150. Today it is a Roman Catholic parish church and is named after the numerous Scottish monks and missionaries who lived here in the years between 1560 and 1860. One of the highlights of the building is the stunningly ornate Scottish entrance, at the north end of the church, which makes it one of Germany's most important Romanesque buildings.
Dominican Church of St Blasius
St Blasius is an early Gothic Dominican church dating from the 13th century. It is one of the largest and oldest preserved Gothic churches in Germany. The stunning murals alone are worth a visit here, but the burial chambers and an impressively beautiful 15th-century desk are also among the highlights. The desk stands in the very room where the famous scholar St. Albertus Magnus once stood and taught.
Duke Park
Take a lovely walk in Herzogspark at the western end of Regensburg's beautiful historic centre, right on the banks of the Danube. The over 1-hectare city park includes a very nice small botanical garden and is a wonderful haven of peace and idyll. The park dates back to 1293 and contains a wide range of flowers such as carnations, primroses and rhododendrons. In addition, there is also a recently built Renaissance garden and with all these beauties to take in, Regensburg and the Herzogspark are quite the obvious place to visit for the flower-interested on a mini break or weekend break in southern Germany.
Basilica of St. Emmeram
Discover all the secrets of Regensburg with Risskov. Find a cheap weekend break for the whole family and start exploring the exciting city. A few hundred metres from St Blasius Church is the former Benedictine monastery, St Emmeram. Founded as far back as the 7th century, the church still bears Roman features, although it has been extended in several stages. For example, the interior of the church is characterised by lavish Baroque interiors, added in the 1700s. In the church you will find various tombs dating from between the 12th and 15th centuries and three crypts. Find a cheap holiday at Risskov with child-friendly hotels and discover beautiful Regensburg and Basiika St. Emmeram.
Regensburg Historical Centre
The beautiful UNESCO-listed old town of Regensburg lies where the Danube joins the Regen and Naab tributaries. The city was founded by the Romans and still bears clear traces of this, not least the Roman tower in the heart of the city. Steinerne Brücke, the oldest preserved stone bridge in Germany, spans the Danube. Regensburg is the fourth largest city in Bavaria and was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2006. At the heart of the city is the Alter Kornmarkt, where you'll find the beautiful Roman tower, dating back to the 2nd century. At the southern end of the Alter Kornmarkt is a beautiful old chapel dating from 1002 and a Baroque church from the 17th century.
Stone Bridge in Regensburg
Steinerne Brücke is Germany's oldest preserved stone bridge. This 12th-century architectural masterpiece is 310 metres long and stretches across the Danube. From the bridge you have a fantastic view over Regensburg. In the Steinerne Bridge's only surviving tower you will find the Brückenturm Museum, where the exhibition includes old cultural artefacts and documents from the construction of the bridge and a beautiful tower clock from the 17th century.
Danube Maritime Museum
Visit the Donau Schiffahrts Museum at the Eiserne Brücke in Regensburg for a special museum experience. This museum is floating on the Danube. The exhibition includes the two fantastic museum ships Radzugdampfer Ruthof / Érsekcsanád from 1922-23 and Motorzugschlepper Freudenau from 1942. On board the ships you can get a unique insight into life at that time and see the many rooms.
Regensburg Cathedral
Close to the historic Steinerne Brücke in Regensburg, the Domplatz houses the grandiose Regensburger Dom (St. Peter's Cathedral). The stunning cathedral dates from the 13th century and is without comparison the most beautiful Gothic church in Bavaria. With its two 105-metre spires, impressive stained glass windows and overwhelmingly spacious interior, it is definitely an experience not to be missed.
