Bonhomme

Visit the small traditional village of Bonhomme, where you will find a few hotels, wine shops and restaurants. From here you can start a hiking or cycling tour to explore Alsace and the Vosges. In the Kayserberg Valley, between vineyards and mountains, you will discover on a hike the cultural richness and the beautiful nature of this region. You can hike in the Vosges National Park in Alsace or on trails through the vineyards - they are all well signposted. In winter, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are possible in the area. The wine route in Alsace

A nice excursion is to take a ride on the so-called wine route, where you can stop in the many traditional villages along the way; Riquewihr, Eguisheim, Ribeauville and Kayserberg. Here you will find wine shops, good restaurants and beautiful half-timbered houses. Riquewihr is perhaps the most enchanting town on the Wine Route. Medieval ramparts line the town with its labyrinthine streets, hidden backyards and half-timbered houses. In Hunawihr you will find a stork park, which is also worth a visit. The stork is an important symbol in Alsace and is said to bring good luck and babies. For a time, the stork population in Alsace declined, and now much is being done to maintain the population, which is again considerable.

Lac Blanc

Explore Lac Blanc, a beautiful deep blue lake. You can hike around the lake on a walking trail. In winter you'll find a ski area here, and in summer there's a cycling track. Find child-friendly hotels at Risskov and go on an adventure at Lac Blanc.

Castle Hohlandsbourg

Just outside Colmar, Château Hohlandsbourg is built on a hilltop with a unique panoramic view of Alsace and the Vosges Mountains. In good weather, it's possible to see the spire of the cathedral and the Swiss Alps from the castle, which dates back to the 13th century when it was home to the Habsburg dynasty, part of the largest princely house in Europe. The castle has been restored and is now a centre for cultural development. The castle is open to visitors, making for an exciting castle experience with stunning views for the whole family.

Turckheim

Turckheim is a cosy town located in Alsace just west of Colmar and on the area's beautiful wine route. In this cosy town there are several walks you can go on, which will give you a nice picture of the town. You can take the high route where you can walk from a hilltop and enjoy the view of the city's rooftops. As Turckheim is a wine town, it is also a good idea to take a walk and have a closer look at the many vineyards that surround the town. You can also enjoy a glass of good wine at one of the many taverns.

As you move around the city, it's also a good idea to take a closer look at its many beautiful old buildings. For example, walk past the city gate of France, which was once used as a trading point, mainly for trade with Switzerland. The Munster city gate is also interesting, as it was here that the witches were led through on their way to the stake. Also take the tour past the fine town hall, which dates back to the 17th century.

Koenigsbourg

Take a family road trip in Europe and visit Alsace in France. Visit the fascinating medieval castle of Koenigsbourg. The castle is a great experience and you can either follow a guide or walk around on your own. It's a stunning building which, after falling into serious disrepair, was rebuilt by William II. From here you can enjoy the view over the Rhine Valley all the way to the Black Forest on the German side. Humbrecht-Trapp

At the Humbrecht-Trapp vineyard, a unique wine experience awaits in the scenic surroundings of Alsace. Here, as something very special, you can get an exciting tour in Danish by Ann-Sophie Rouvillain, who was born and raised in Denmark and has recently become part of the family behind the enterprise.

Humbrecht-Trapp has been producing a wide range of tasty Alsatian wines with great care and love since 1620 - that is, for almost 400 years. Since its inception, the estate has passed from generation to generation and today comprises some 7.5 hectares of vines, spread around the town. Around 35,000 bottles of wine are produced annually, in a wide range that includes the seven official Alsace wines, as well as other varieties such as Crèmant, Grand Cru and Pinot.

For many, the Christmas markets in Strasbourg are one of the greatest experiences of the festive season. There is a real magic in the air when Strasbourg's Christmas markets with Christmas trees, lights, wooden huts and traditional mulled wine open every year from the end of November.

In Strasbourg, the Christmas markets help to link the festive season with spiritual faith and culture, and it's not for nothing that the Christmas markets were voted the best Christmas destination in Europe in 2013.

It is almost 450 years since the first Christmas market called "Christkindelsmärik" became a tradition in Strasbourg, making it one of the oldest in Europe. Since then, the city has continued the tradition, providing visitors with a hospitable and authentic experience of a lifetime.
