Staying here means you’re never far from anything – and that’s exactly the beauty of it. Step outside and you’ll find yourself wandering through cobbled streets towards the Old Hanseatic Harbor, where boats gently bob and cafés invite you to linger a little longer. If you feel like venturing further, the surrounding region has plenty to offer. The Altes Land, just a short distance away, is a dream for nature lovers – especially in spring, when the orchards are in bloom and everything feels fresh and alive. Bring a bike or simply enjoy a peaceful walk along the Elbe. And if you’re in the mood for something more vibrant, Hamburg is within easy reach for a day filled with shopping, culture and big-city energy.
Back at the hotel, things remain pleasantly relaxed. Mornings start with a generous breakfast buffet – just the kind of slow, satisfying beginning that sets the tone for the day. In the evening, the cosy bar is a nice spot to wind down, perhaps with a drink and a few stories from the day’s discoveries. The hotel is pet-friendly, so dogs are welcome for an additional fee. For those arriving by car, there is an underground car park (subject to availability), as well as public parking options nearby. Reception is open daily from early morning until late evening, ensuring assistance during most arrival and departure times.

Tidenkieker-båden
The beautiful nature on the Elbe is best experienced on the boat, the Tidenkieker. This flat-bottomed boat brings you close to the river's beautiful birdlife, cargo ships and fresh air. You might even be lucky enough to see seals, which thrive in the waters of the Elbe.
Church of St Cosmae
Just northwest of Hamburg lies the small and charming town of Stade. Find a cheap holiday to the Hamburg area at Risskov and visit Stade and of course St Cosmae Church, which was built way back in the 13th century and is centrally located in the town of Stade. The church has been extended in several stages and is an exciting architectural experience. In 1682-84 the church got its expressive steeple, which is today the town's landmark. Find a hotel with a children's discount and drive south to Hamburg and Stade, which is great for a driving holiday, and for both summer and winter holidays.
The open-air museum
Das Freilichtmuseum is idyllically located on an island in the middle of the town of Stade, and is one of the oldest open-air museums in Germany. On the island you can see a historic windmill, a ceremonial gate and a beautiful half-timbered building with original furnishings dating back to 1733. Enjoy lunch or refreshments in the open-air museum's cosy restaurant, which is housed in an old farmhouse dating back to 1641.
Wingster Waldzoo
Zoo in der Wingst is a small, cosy and very family-friendly zoo, located in Wingst in Lower Saxony. The garden houses over 50 different animals from all over the world, ranging from raccoons to snowy owls. Take a walk in the wolf and bear forest, see silk monkeys and kangaroos, lions and tigers and much more.
German Oplymp observation tower
The observation tower in Wingst is probably the oldest attraction in the municipality. As far back as 1860, a 7-metre high tower was inaugurated, which has since been renovated in several stages. Today the tower is 23 metres high and offers a fantastic view over Wingst and the Elbe, Brunsbüttel and the North Sea. If you like to get a bit higher and enjoy a breathtaking view, a trip to the Aussichtsturm Deutscher Oplymp is definitely worth taking on your self-drive holiday in Northern Germany.
Visit Spielpark Wingst
Spielpark Wingst is the perfect place for the kids to have fun while the adults relax. The 50,000 m² playground includes a toboggan run, climbing area, swings, slides and trampolines. The interactive game SmartUs combines logic with physical exercise.

Glückstadt
Also known as the Little Kingdom on the Elbe. Glückstadt was founded by Christian IV and was intended to be a rival to Hamburg as well as a fortress and port city. But unfortunately it did not turn out exactly as the Danish king had wished. Today Glückstadt is a peaceful and idyllic town, with small streets and a beautiful and picturesque harbour. The town is full of well-preserved houses and its very location on the Elbe makes 'Glückstadt' a lovely town.
There are also great shopping opportunities in the Old Town, so take a stroll around and browse the many breathtaking but also tempting shops, where personal service is always top-notch.
The city also has many beautiful and restored buildings. Enjoy the Old Town Hall, which was rebuilt in 1874 but retains the original facade from the mid-17th century when the first town hall was built. Also stop by the Brockdorff Palace with the Detlefsen Museum or the beautiful Wasmer Palace, and of course the ´Palais für aktuelle Kunst´ where contemporary art is exhibited.
