Halmstad and Tylösand

50 km from Markeryd you will find the west coast city of Halmstad with its 66,000 inhabitants. Here you will find a myriad of fine restaurants and cosy cafés. We also recommend a stroll through the streets of the inner city. It is particularly lovely here in summer with its close proximity to beaches such as the well-known and popular town of Tylösand, which is a must to visit on a holiday by car. The town offers something for the whole family. Everything from a trip to the museum, art and shopping to relaxing in the city parks and visiting the playgrounds.

Habeltorpasjön (or Bredaredssøen)

If you like to fish, you should bring your gear on a weekend break or car holiday in southern Sweden. In Lake Bredared you can fish for perch, pike and eel and boats are available for hire. There is a bathing bay with a jetty, barbecue and disabled-friendly outhouse. A fishing licence is required to fish in this area.

Danske Vandfald

The name "Danish Waterfall" comes from the battle at Fyllebro on 17 August 1676 between Denmark and Sweden, when Charles XI reigned. According to the story, the Swedes cut down the suspension bridge while the Danes were on the bridge. The area is a very beautiful nature reserve that stretches south along Söderåsen!

Hallandsstien

Hallandsleden or Halland Trail is a 360 km long hiking trail through Halland. Hallandsstien is adjacent to Skånestien in the south and Bohusstien in the north. On its way through Halland, the trail splits in eastern and western direction at Simlångsgården. Both sections meet again in the Åkulla area. From Varberg you can follow "Europaled 1" and join the other parts of the Halland trail just before Åkulla.

So remember your walking shoes, even if you're on a car holiday!

Svedinos car & plane museum

Svedinos Car and Aircraft Museum in Ugglarp has one of Europe's largest collections of vintage cars and aircraft. The collection contains over 100 cars and around 40 aircraft. Few things have fascinated people as much as being able to fly, and here you can experience this fascination at close quarters, from the early development of the aeroplane modelled on the bird to today's modern jet fighter. You'll also hear about the exciting history and development of the car through the 20th century.

Båstad

Try an active holiday with Risskov and find a cheap weekend break for the whole family near Båstad. This small Swedish town is best known as a tennis and seaside resort. The world's best tennis players come to Båstad every summer to compete in the fourth oldest Grand Prix tournament, the Swedish Open in Båstad. Even when the tennis tournament isn't on, there's plenty to do in town. Båstad has many galleries and cosy shops and is one of the best tourist towns in Skåne. The area is great for a cheap summer holiday, so take the family under your arm and head to Båstad yourself.
