The small charming village of Stemmen is located near the famous Lüneburger Heide and in between the cities of Bremen and Hamburg.

As you walk around the small village, you'll come across several of the area's typical old buildings with mint-coloured gables. Examples include Muskanten, Hoops Hus, Mattens Hus and Harms Hof. These fine buildings date back many years and much is being done in the area to preserve their original appearance.

As you stroll around and look at the old buildings, you will notice that the old names of the buildings are still kept, such as Heins Hus, Peets Hof and Lühmanns Hus. You can notice the old names on the old stones standing next to the buildings, on which the name of the building is engraved.

There is no doubt that nature is the main focus in this small village. The large green trees mark every street and the various buildings of the village, such as the old school, are surrounded by greenery. On the outskirts of the village, the appearance is characterised by streams and small paths in the greenery. This is where the Lüneburger Heide begins and you are enveloped in wonderful natural surroundings.

Niederhaverbeck

Heath Park Soltau

If you're looking for a little wind in your hair and a tickle in your stomach while you're on summer holiday, we recommend a visit to Heide Park Soltau, the largest leisure and family park in northern Germany. Here you can feel the thrill of the giant roller coasters or get goose bumps when you visit the Transylvanian vampires. You can easily spend a whole day in the fun park.

That old house

Dat ole Huus is one of the oldest farms in the Lüneburger Heide nature reserve, and gives a unique impression of life on the Heidehof around the 1850s. People and animals lived here under one roof and cooking took place over an open fire. Also visit the sheepfold, which is no longer in use but is instead used as an exhibition space for changing exhibitions on the culture and landscape of the Lüneburger Heide all year round.

Walsrode

Walsrode is a town situated in green surroundings with good opportunities for leisure activities. Here you can enjoy the scenic surroundings, go cycling or hiking on the many marked trails or spend a day in one of the adventure parks in the area.

One of the most fascinating adventure parks is the Bird Park, which has more than 650 species of birds and puts on great shows.
